Seven Days, Seven Figures

As the days go by my excitement of heading to Japan for a month grows ever so greatly. I’ve been drilling through the pile of work in hopes that my boss and co-worker aren’t drowned in projects, and I’m still doing some planning on the itinerary. But within my humble home I figured that I need to clear out more room for the incoming horde that is to come. Most of the space is taken up by all the figures I left for photography and haven’t gotten around to taking them. So it’s time to clean up! With only 7 days left I figured I would play catch up with the backlog, so I bring to you Seven Figures in Seven Days!

So keep an eye out for the first one in a few hours. Oh and incase you’re wondering, that pile of figures is three boxes deep and each column has about 10 boxes.

A Hatsune Miku or Two

Over the years of anime merchandise spending, I’m usually careful in not buying two of the same item. Although Konata has taught us that we should buy three of the same thing, one to actually handle with, one to look at, and one to keep as a collector’s item I still wouldn’t go to those extremes. My friend Roobar always states that having two of the one item means you can hold one in each hand. Normally I would laugh that off, but this time, I fully understand what he means.

Figure Review: Resinya’s Shirakawa Kotori (NSFW)

Damn it’s been nearly two months since I last did a figure review. The backlog growth has slowed down considerably since I stopped ordering so much as I needed to save money, but it’ll be back on track when I’m back from Japan. But with only a few days to go and my decision to not blog anything this season I’m hoping to cut through the backlog. So anyway, on with the show. Dating back to November 2007, Resinya’s Shirakawa Kotori, which is COSPA’s first attempts at the figure market but how well does it compare to other established figure makers? Well hit the jump to check out the pics.

Hidden treasures of an Otaku Room

One of the things about my room is that it gets cluttered fairly quickly. Though I guess that applies to anyone but with my room being so small it’s a battle to place my merchandise anywhere. Well over the weekend I decided to do some cleaning in preparation of the incoming loot that I will be shipping back from Japan in hopes to fit it all in. I was also looking for my DS Lite and PSP which I had somehow lost in my room. Eventually I found them but also amongst the clutter I found these:

These were all stashed away in one of my drawers. Just a collection of keychains and phone hangers that I have bought over the past two years. I also didn’t realise I had bought two Alice Carroll phone hangers either and I seriously don’t remember when I bought them from Tamarket. I’ll probably give it away or something but unsure which of my circle of friends would want it. Oh and I did find my DS and PSP in the same draw.

Another item I found was on my bookshelf was this:

Having a look through my expenditure records of this year it’s not even recorded. So I don’t even remember when I bought this book nor can I find the receipt for it. But I do get the feeling I bought it earlier this year at Kinokuniya. When I found it it was still shrinked wrapped and right now it’s still shrink wrapped. Yeah, I just placed it back on the bookshelf. In the end after cleaning up, I still don’t have that much more room. I think I’m in trouble come September.

The Da Capo fandom in me

Now I would say I’m a man who is pretty passionate about his anime fandom. But I would also say I’m a man who likes to just spend money on a lot of random things (though I would say most of it is from the influence of Roobar). Normally these two join forces and produce a variety of results. However when the fandom is focused on a particular section, the money factor is pretty much out of the equation. For each person who watches anime, there is always that one series that they hold in high regards above everything else and for me, it’s Da Capo.

My close anime friends know of my fandom very well and have even contributed to making my evergrowing empire of merchanidse grow as large as it is now, as well as knowing how to make my wallet lighter. All I know is that when I’m in Japan in August, I’m gonna go nuts. But in the mean time a nice little item had arrived at my doorstep to ease the fact that Da Capo II SS had finished:

For some reason this came in a HUGE box, a box big enough to hold two Revoltechs.

Although I wouldn’t exactly say I’m as big of a fan of the siscon as a particular tanuki, but I do admit that Nemu is the one that made me diverge towards that path. But alas I lack one important element to making this purchase that much more glorious, I lack my very own imouto. So I guess my only option left is to have my future girlfriend wear this or better yet, save this for my future daughter, assuming my future wife doesn’t kill me for such a reason.

COSPA’s Katsura Hinagiku towel

Well it’s been getting rather cold lately. I could wrap myself up in a blanket and drink some hot coffee, or hot tea. Heck alcoholic beverages is also an option. But I think I’m probably better off wrapping myself with a Hinagiku towel and let my BURNING PASSION for all things moé keep me warm.

This actually arrived about a month and a half ago and it was sitting on the very top of the pile of forever growing loot. Since Hayate no Gotoku had finished a few months ago, I needed something to fill in the empty gap, and not to mention I needed more Hinagiku, so this was the next best thing.

It’s rather funny how I keep buying these kind of things even though I don’t have the wall space to hang them up. One day I will, one day. Surprisingly enough you can still buy one at HLJ for only ¥4800.

But choosing between this and the Nanaka towel would definitely be a tough choice. Deep down though I know the answer would be Nanaka for sure.

COSPA’s Botan plushy - ~Puhi Puhi~

Despite having my wallet become significantly lighter over the weekend, the merchandise must continue to flow in! Well I finally got myself a Botan (Fujibayashi Kyou’s pet pig from CLANNAD) plushy thanks to Hobby Search having it restocked (I think it’s the third restock). In fact this is actually the first time I used Hobby Search, but comparing to HLJ, there really isn’t much of a difference except Hobby Search only ship by express post. Anyway at least this is one item to cross off my Japan shopping list.

At least Aria-shachou won’t be lonely anymore. I was quite surprised when I took Botan out of the box as he is quite solid and very round. Funnily enough I actually started tossing him around like a football lol. For the time being I face the problem of placing him somewhere as I don’t really have room for plushies. Well I’m sure I’ll work something out. Now that I have a Botan plushy, all I need now is a long purple haired girlfriend.
