Supanova Sydney 09 - Merchandise Purchases

Whenever I attend a convention, I try to place a budget on how much I should spend there. Over the years I have never ever met that expectation, and once again this year at Supanova was no exception. I came close to my set budget, but with the persuasion of friends Roobar and Blox, I caved in. Yes I am a weak man. Though do I regret on giving in so easily? Well sort of, but that is a different issue. Read on to see what goodies I bought from Supanova Sydney 2009.

Figure Gallery: Corticarte Apa Lagranges (Movic)

Wow, it certainly has been a while since I last posted a figure photo shoot. I blame pure laziness for this, but hopefully that can change over the coming weeks as I am on a quest to rekindle my photography skills once again. The figure pile still stands tall but I am determined to get through it one way or another. So starting off we have something that came out a long time ago (like March 2008): Corticarte Apa Lagranges. Hit the jump to see more.

Figure Gallery: Sawatari Makoto the foxy girl

Determined to get through the figure backlog I have once again gotten through another figure photo shoot. This figure is a well known one amongst collectors so once again, no review, just pretty pictures. I’m not sure why this took me so long to get around but none the less I have done it. So hit the jump to check out more photos of Max Factory’s Sawatari Makoto.

First Loot for 2009

With the New Year already past, it means a new start to the 2009 expenditure. Normally I don’t do posts like this but what they heck. So my first figure to arrive at my doorstep is none other than Kotobukiya’s Swimsuit Hinagiku. As always I also forgot when I ordered this as well as forgetting that it was also a 1/6 scale figure.

But just like all the other figures, she’ll simply sit on top of the never shrinking (and kind of not growing) pile of figures that I have left unopened. I’m hoping this year I can at least clear the backlog since this pile still has figures from early last year but alas, free time seems to escape from me somehow. Oh and for those interested, below is what the pile is currently like:

The only exception is the usually nendoroids or figmas that have arrived over the past few months I have bothered to open and place in the display cabinet. I’ve also removed 3 figures from this pile as I’m planning on giving them away but just haven’t figured out how. This pile is also kind of annoying since I’ve also kicked it by accident a few times whilst walking in and out of my room.

So currently in the pile is about 30 figures (excluding any nendoroids and figmas) and with this many figure boxes I could probably stack them up to make 2 towers that’ll touch the roof (perhaps I should take a photo?). So do you think I can make it through this backlog of figures?

Oh for those wondering, yes that’s a Saber dollfie sitting on top of the Exelica box.

Figure Gallery: Kouno Harumi

Finally, the first figure photo shoot of 2009. Though looking back it’s been since July since my last one where I did the Seven Figures Over Seven Days, and here I’m thinking damn that’s a long time ago. Still the pile of figures has remained somewhat unchanged, in fact it’s actually grown bigger. Hopefully 2009 will see a change and me actually getting through all the figures in the backlog starting off with this little gem: Kotobukiya’s Kouno Harumi. Hit the jump to check out more photos.

How to Treat Bootleg Figures

Earlier this week I met up with fellow Sydney anime bloggers M12, Optic, and Koshiko for a event filled with fun and anguish. One of the things that you have to look out for as a figure collector is bootleg items. In the past I and a few friends have been a victim, and Optic has recently been a victim as well. So we decided to show people how exactly you should treat bootleg figures. Hit the jump to read on on what we did.

The Result of my Burning Passion - 2008 Expenditure

With the New Year approaching us very soon, it’s time to look back at the year that was 2008 and see how far my BURNING PASSION has taken me. 2008 has definitely been an interesting year for me as many factors such as increased salaries, the ever decreasing amount of space in my room, the EPIC Japan trip, the world financial crisis, and my otaku burnout all play a role in my spending habits. So hit the jump to check out my report of the year 2008.
