100,000 Visitors Mark, and the Daily Grind

Yes! Moé Moé Rabu has finally reached the 100,000 visitors mark. Though it probably hit this some time ago as I didn’t add the Site Meter until November last year, but that is also around the time Moé Moé Rabu started. So only 9 months, not so bad. But of course, I couldn”t have reached this stage without my dear readers. So thank you all for reading my blog and I hope you continue to do so.

So it’s been a good 9 weeks since I started the new job and things have been flat out since Day 1. For those who don’t know, I’m currently a web developer working in a small dev shop specializing in Adobe ColdFusion. So how much have I learnt about it? Sweet fuck all, lol. A good reason as well. When I first started, I was doing an online training course for ColdFusion until the boss started allocating me work. So the training has come to a halt and I’m thrown into the deep end.

Lucky me I got allocated the task of database work for a few major projects, and that’s all I”ve been doing for the past 7 weeks. At least the benefit is that I know more database and SQL than my fellow new-comers. But I can see now that being in the daily grind, my free time was just obliterated. But I still make time at nights for anime and socialising with friends, online and offline. But of course, with a steady income, let’’s just say my HLJ list went from a low 6 items to something I haven”t seen since my last Japan trip.

All in all, life is good. Working away learning more about web development, spending more on otaku goods, and having my night-life back! But now that we leaving Winter have entered into the convention time of the year for Sydney, looking forward to those as well as some more photography work. Also I plan to make some business cards for me to hand out during conventions thanks to a suggestion by a friend. Things are going to get busy for the next month or so.

Thank you Moé Moé Rabu, I now have a job!

It has definitely been a long time since I graduated from uni. My ceremony was WAY back in September but I have actually been looking for work since August. So after a long 10 months of searching for full time work, I can finally say that the search is over! That’s right, and it’s all thanks to Moé Moé Rabu, well in a indirect way. First just a bit of background. Originally I was looking for a Software Developer role, since I graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science majoring in Systems Programming, but alas once I began my search for full time work, I found it extremely difficult to get even a junior position.

As I continued the search, I used Moé Moé Rabu as a means to kill time until I could find work but also to learn a bit more on web development. Though eventually I found myself a bit more interested in web development as I continued to work on the blog and even started looking at web development jobs as the filed appeared to be much easier to find work in. Losing faith in finding work, friends kept helping me out in the search but the months kept stacking up. However I finally saw a job advertised relatively close to where I went to uni and applied. Went for an interview on Thursday afternoon and was told the details etc. They told me I’m standing on top at the moment and that they’ll call me on Friday if I get it. The call didn’t come so I rang them up today, as I had another job offer, but was happy to hear they are going to accept me.

The job itself is a junior web developer role in a small company, but they are growing so fast they’re already looking for a new office space. So I’m definitely over the moon about this as my long search is over and I have to thank my blog for the majority of this. Without this blog I wouldn’t have had an interest in web development, but I would also have to say people like Danny Choo, and Shingo are inspirations for me in entering the blogsphere and learning more about web development. Anyway so far this role involves me doing a training module for the first month and starting on small projects. I’ll be learning Adobe Cold Fusion and refining my HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills. Good thing about this role is that since it’s located roughly the same area as the uni I attended, it’s only a 20 minute drive to work.

So now with me entering full time work, what does this mean for Moé Moé Rabu? Quite a few things actually. Simply I’ll most likely have to cut down on the amount of blogging I do especially with anime episodes. Figure reviews I’m not sure at this point as I’ll have less time to go out and take photos, but given it’s Winter here in Australia, the weather hasn’t exactly been great either. Although with the current shows I’m blogging I’ll still continue until they are done, but with new shows, either stop completely or just do smaller posts (actually I’ve been meaning to do this for ages).

Anyway, I’ll be starting straight away, or Tuesday next week, and I’m totally excited as I can finally get a start on my career. But more importantly, I CAN FINALLY LEAVE WOOLWORTHS!!! Thank you Moé Moé Rabu, I now have a job!

New Figures Page is up!

Just simply announcing that I have created a Figures page for simplicity for those of you who want to see my past figure photographs as some people don’t like browsing through the entire Figures category. I have also included the very first photographs I did before I got my shiny camera, but you can see how much I have progressed. Well check out the Figures Page!

Also to note, it might look a little weird but it’ll look better once Moé Moé Rabu v4 is up and running, which I have nearly finished. I haven’t worked on it for a week and half simply because I got lazy. There’s not much left to do except make some banners and a few more tweaks.

The 1000 comments milestone

Yes as of last night I have finally reached the 1000 comment milestone, and of course, all of them are not spam (I filtered them out a long time ago). The 100th comment goes to oOgA from Anime Banzai.Well it has taken just over a year to reach this mark and I’m glad that I have made it this far and I’ll be continuing to do so. Although some of you may realise that I started blogging just over a year ago. Well that was back in the days of Adunitisity, I’ll celebrate my one year anniversary when it comes to the actual one year anniversary of Moe Moe Rabu, which is still a long way away.

Anyway I would like to thank all the readers of my blog and I do hope you continue to do so. Without you guys, I wouldn’t have made it to this point.

moemoerabu.net version 4 is in construction

Lately I haven’t posted anything much mainly because I have been working on a new look for Moe Moe Rabu. Yes, Version 4 of moemoerabu.net is coming hopefully soon as it is time to change it’s look. Here is just a list of reasons why:

  • Want a more simpler and more neater look.
  • A look that suits people with monitors with a 1024 x 768 resolution. The current version is optimised only for those with 1280 x 1024, since that is what I am running.
  • A theme that doesn’t use as much images mainly for bandwidth purposes and hopefully faster loading times.
  • More functionality out of WordPress with a different theme.
  • Hopefully the new theme will fix the Technorati problem. Every time I make a post, it pings back my categories for some odd reason.

The theme I have chosen is the K2 theme as it has a lot of functionality and uses modules that’ll allow me to control what is shown on particular pages. But the look will be based on the default theme but totally customized and re-optimized to hopefully make a few things easier to present. Of course this is also a re-educating experience as I’m starting to remember the things about CSS that I learnt during uni. There are a few features I want to add to the new look but I’m having trouble trying to either find a plugin in or a PHP hack. The following are a few things I have yet to figure out:

  • A way to count how many times a post has been viewed, and place this count value next to the title of a post.
  • A small mini blog section on the sidebar so I don’t have to do a proper post.
  • With the K2 theme, it uses a livesearch feature. I want to use just a normal search feature that has a search button.

That’s all I can think of for now, but there might be more later. At most all I have done is the major layout of the beta but I have yet to figure out a color scheme and to create a header image. All up I’m not exactly sure how long this will take me, could be a few days, could be a few weeks but I am hoping to get it up and running. Also I will be moving to a new hosting soon but I need to get around to fixing the clutch in my car first as that is my top priority. I’ll still continue blogging to an extent, however I am still unsure what else to blog other than Hayate and sola from the new season. Though I’ll be choosing soon.

So if anyone knows on how to solve the features I am after, please leave your feedback as it would help me greatly.

note: for those interested, you can view the beta here. Don’t mind the colours as I’ve yet to decide since I’m working on the layout.
