sola licensed by Bandai Visual USA

Oh man, so it’s finally happened. sola has been licensed, and by no other than Bandai Visual USA. Announced on ANN, I can only be both excited, yet also disappointed in this kind of news. I think it’s great that a series such as sola has been licensed, but the fact that it has been licensed by Bandai Visual USA is a different matter. Personally I’m not up to date on what happens in the US anime market since I live in Australia, but I do sense that something terrible will plague the series just like the Kanon 2006 dub.

The other thing for me as a consumer is whether they can compete with the Japanese DVD releases. Obviously from seeing what the Limited Edition versions of sola have to offer, I can say that I’m glad my hard earned dollars have gone to the Japanese releases. So all up, I’m hella excited about a US release of sola, but also have huge doubts of whether the release will be a hit or miss. If BV USA decide to go the track of releasing $30 for two episodes per disc, then I rather wait for a local Australian release by Madman.

In the meantime, BV USA have a placeholder site up for sola here. It also appears that the first volume won’t be out till the 10th June. Damn that’s a long way away. But more than anything, I’m eager for the release of the sola manga by Brocolli Books.

sola color V

Well it has certainly been a long time since this arrived. I’m rather saddened that it has taken me this long to actually getting around to open the plastic covering and have a look, and not to mention scan them. But at last here it is, sola color V! Well not that it matters any since probably a whole two people would want these, lol. Hit the jump to check out the scans.

sola Visual Fanbook

Being a fan of a particular series can get pretty tough, especially when they release a whole bunch of merchandise for it. However being a BIG fan of a particular series, you don’t care what they release, as long as you get it. Having a browse through Amazon Japan a few weeks ago, I saw this and ordered it straight away. Only arriving sometime last week, it’s finally here - sola Visual Fanbook.

sola color III

As the quest to go through the pile of merchandise backlogs continues on, I take a break from the Autumn season of anime and thought it was time to get this done. Plus I was feeling kind of angry this afternoon I didn’t feel like watching anime. But my anger subsided once I pulled this from the pile. That frown turned upside down and I’m graced with the moé aura of Mana and Koyori. That’s right, it’s sola color III.

sola color II

As I struggle to go through the influx of merchandise flowing in, I will eventually get to them. Arriving well over two months ago, I think, is sola color II. And once again I have sacrificed my sleep time to bring to you the scanlations of the goodies that comes with Volume 2.

sola color I

Ever since sola finished airing, I was sadden. But I can still enjoy sola all over again with the DVD releases! It has been about 3 months since the release of Volume 01 but I finally got around to actually looking at what goodies come with the limited press edition. And I must say, it doesn’t disappoint me.
