School Days - 12

It has been a long time since this was aired, and it feels like I’ve missed the boat on this one, but I finally got around to watching School Days episode 12. Now we could all see a not so happy ending coming, given the progress of how the show went, especially with Makoto getting around, but I didn’t expect this episode to be quite graphic, even though it was censored. Though I could see a lot of anime fans would be doing the banzai pose in praise of Makoto’s death, and I’m one of them. But this episode had quite a number of surprising events especially in the characters.

School Days - 11

Wow, just wow. But seriously, wtf, who’d thought Makoto would be pimping out so much. Seeing Hikari get together with Makoto was a big surprise especially since she likes Taisuke, and she is yet to find out what Taisuke has done with Kotonoha. Makoto must’ve made some smooth moves or something to be able to get with Hikari, but I wonder how Hikari doesn’t appear to feel very guilty of sleeping with Makoto especially since she knows that Sekai and Makoto are a couple. Although she does try to redeem herself by seeing Sekai and trying to help her out.

School Days - 10

Quite a bit happened in this episode with a lot of character development especially with Setsuna. We see her primarily trying to get Makoto to be faithful to Sekai, though in the end I’m not sure if she succeeded. For her to offer herself to make Makoto keep his promise was a bit of surprise, though deep down I think Setsuna wanted it more than just an agreement and that she wanted it to be more than just a memory.

School Days - 09

With the continuation of the school festival, the love mess continues on. With Kotonoha’s confrontation of Setsuna, I don’t think it was all that great as it really didn’t add to the tension that is going around already. Though the play that Setsuna was watching I thought was a good way to reflect the actions that she took and it was almost like this play was written for her.

School Days - 08

So with Kotonoha finally confronting Sekai, things are starting to move. Though the biggest surprise this episode was Setsuna kissing Makoto, although we could see it coming a long way away. I never thought that Setsuna would harbour some kind of feelings towards Makoto especially with Setsuna’s strong intervention to try and keep Makoto and Kotonoha separate, but also get Makoto and Sekai together. But with the flashback of their past brings about the premise of such a thing, and it shows that Makoto is a pretty nice guy, well back then he was.

School Days - 07

Every episode I watch of School Days, it just seems to get more and more crazy. With Kotonoha finding out about Makoto and Sekai, I’m surprised that she didn’t confront them sooner, but I guess that’s also because of her personality. She seems to be a person who rather wait for something to happen than to take the initiative. Still, she is trying in her own way and obviously it’s not enough, and with Makoto not being by her side, we’re already starting to see her descent in mental stability, e.g the way she is undoing the entire knit work.

School Days - 06

So with Makoto and Sekai’s true feelings known, their relationship has definitely been taken to a higher level. Although they have taken a big step, one thing for sure, Makoto is a lecherous coward. His decision to not tell Kotonoha about his relationship with Sekai is simply adding fuel to the fire, but he also doesn’t want to admit his guilt of betraying Kotonoha. Though with his relationship with Sekai, it seems that their roles are now reversed. Before it was Sekai who was in charge, but now Makoto is the one pushing, and it shows that Sekai is having a hard time saying no.
