Nodame Cantabile - 09

  • Everyone arrives at the Nina Lutz music seminar, after a car ride annoying Chiaki, with Mine, Masumi, and Nodame taking part in lessons of their respective instruments. However Nodame gets kicked out of Nina’s class due to her not being able to read the music sheet.
  • By lunchtime, Mine is depressed since everyone else is better than him. Masumi explains that everyone did an audition to attend this seminar, unlike themselves who got invited by Stresemann. Although Masumi is excited and had practiced beforehand, unlike Mine. Nodame turns up and wants to see Chiaki, but he is nowhere to be found.

Nodame Cantabile - 08

  • A month has passed since S-Orchestra’s performance, but due to the rainy weather, the practice doesn’t go well. Stresemann interrupts and suggests everyone go have goukon instead. Everyone is skeptical at first but when Stresemann nominates Chiaki the girls decide to go, with the boys following.
  • Nodame, who is tagging along, tripped in a puddle and got her clothes wet. Stresemann promises her to buy her new clothes, but ends up getting her a swimsuit. Whilst watching the others enjoy themselves, Mine and Masumi wonder if the Maestro is genuine given his behaviour. Chiaki believes he is the real Stresemann, although curious he does some research online at home. What Chiaki found out was that Stresemann has been reported missing since a London performance and that people are looking for him.

Nodame Cantabile - 07

  • During rehearsal, Mine keeps an eye on Chiaki, but is soon lectured at for not playing properly.
  • The teachers are discussing about disbanding the S-Orchestra since Stresemann has left the group, but then decide to let A-Orchestra win before doing so. At the same time, A-Orchestra is holding rehearsal but Stresemann leaves early so he can go on a date.
  • On his way out, he is approached by a conducting student named Ookouchi who wishes to conduct wit the S-Orchestra in place of Chiaki, but Stresemann surprises him by asking him where his bribe is. Stresemann explains that if he wants something he should offer him a bribe.

Nodame Cantabile - 06

  • Stresemann announces that S-Orchestra’s debut will be in one month, but Chiaki doesn’t think they are good enough for that. But Stresemann also announces that Chiaki is the substitute conductor, much to Chiaki’s surprise.
  • With Stresemann leaving Chiaki in charge, a contrabass musician called Sakura stumbles in late because she walked from home as she didn’t have train fare. During practice, Sakura gets stared at by Chiaki as she feels that she can’t keep up with everyone else. Afterwards, Sakura tries asking her peers for help; instead they lecture her about not practicing seriously because of her part-time job.
  • As Nodame is giving Chiaki her lemon dipped in honey, he is approached by members of the orchestra asking for advice. Somehow they got a hold of his cell phone number and start calling on his way home. Arriving home, he finds Sakura and Nodame waiting to be fed.

Nodame Cantabile - 05

  • Having to face kissing Stresemann, Nodame ends up punching him instead and knocking him out. Having spotted the urtext and remembers that today is the rehearsal for his orchestra.
  • With the students, they realise that the orchestra is composed of students who are unskilled. Growing restless, some of the students start to leave, until Nodame arrives with Chiaki. Nodame announces that Chiaki will be conducting, with the piece being Beethoven’s Symphony No.7. Chiaki had just recently finished studying Vieira’s version and decides to give it a go.

Nodame Cantabile - 04

  • A foreign old man is walking through the school with a guide book on Japan, peering into various practice rooms. However rumour spreads out that there is a creepy old man going around.
  • Nodame on her way home is approached by the foreign old man who asks for directions to get a taxi. Nodame tells him how to get there but the man insists that Nodame show him and offers her dinner. Remembering how her mother said not to talk to strangers, the man claims he’s not any one suspicious and that his name is Milch Holstein from Germany.
  • So Nodame takes him to a place with good food, which ends up being Chiaki’s apartment. After hitting her with frying pans, Chiaki questions about the old man but Nodame claims that he is her friend, even though she only just met him. When Chiaki hears his name, he realises that Milch Holstein is a fake name (Milch = milk, Holstein = a type of cow).

Nodame Cantabile - 03

  • Okuyama Masumi is a timpanist who has difficulties staying in a practice room for a long time, and is often mistaken for a female. Having rushed out, he sees Chiaki walking by, but when Nodame comes and clings onto Chiaki, he gets infuriated. That is because Masumi is in love with Chiaki.
  • Later on Nodame sees Chiaki compiling his own music for an orchestra, but he doesn’t have anyone to play it. Nodame changes the topic to dinner and suggests nabe, however Chiaki hits her but gives her a list of ingredients anyway.
  • However when she gets outside, someone dumped a bucket of water (including the bucket) onto Nodame making the list wet. So when she arrives back at Chiaki’s apartment, he finds that she bought the wrong ingredients. She also gets a chain letter in her mail which says she will die if she doesn’t send 100 copies.
