Nodame Cantabile - 23

The Rising Star Orchestra’s final piece is Beethoven’s Symphony No.7, and as he is conducting, Chiaki thinks about what the orchestra means and decides to change the name. At the after party, Chiaki is surprised that everyone knows he is going overseas thanks to Mine, but like wise, Chiaki surprises everyone by telling them that a well known conductor, Matsuda Yukihisa, is replacing him. When he returns home, Chiaki sees the pocket watch on the piano and thinks that he’ll never hear her play again. So he decides to track down her parents number, but failed at that. He remembers what Sakuma said to him about famous musicians being remembered because they meet important people, so he decides to goto Nodame’s home instead.

Nodame Cantabile - 22

Having stopped due to forgetting the piece, Nodame improvises and continues playing. Although by the end the audience is still applauding, but Nodame hurries off to pack up and leave. Meanwhile the judges are discussing Nodame are impressed, but put her application aside, except for one judge who picks up it up with great interest. Later on the results are announced with Yuuto getting second place. At the same time, Chiaki finds Nodame outside and stops her so he can talk.

Nodame Cantabile - 21

With the Maradona piano competition continuing, Nodame’s rival Segawa Yuuto does extremely well and impresses the judges. Back at school, Takahashi is giving a demonstration of his skills to Chiaki and everyone. Kiyora recognises his skills, but the problem is that Takahashi wants to take over as concertmaster. Mine then accepts him as concertmaster much to Kiyora’s shock, but Mine believes that Kiyora should focus on going back to Vienna and come back even better than Takahashi and take back the role.

Nodame Cantabile - 20

As Nodame continues to practice for the competition, Etou is frustrated that she isn’t playing as according to the sheet, but it turns out that she is worried about people cheating. Though to her relief she finds out that they can’t. Chiaki gets a mail from Nodame saying that Schubert’s not easy to get along with. At that time, he is getting ready for rehearsal with the Rising Star Orchestra and is surprised to find Kai Dunn as the concertmaster. During their practice, his skills and directing of the fellow members impresses Chiaki. Later on with a private conversation, Kai is surprised that Chiaki got instructed by Stresemann. Although Chiaki respects Stresemann’s music, he isn’t going to Europe because of him, but he will go next year.

Nodame Cantabile - 19

Chiaki and the Rising Star Orchestra are now playing Brahms Symphony No.1 in C Minor Op. 68 as their last performance for the concert. As Sakuma watches and listens, he thinks to why Chiaki is so talented and passionate, but he seems to carry such hopelessness. As the performance comes to a close, Nodame is in tears and Kai Down is the first to give applause. Just after the concert, Nodame finds and talks to Chiaki’s mother. A few days later, Nodame has a present she wants to give Chiaki. It happens to be the pocket watch, but before giving it to him, she hypnotises him.

Nodame Cantabile - 18

During rehearsal, Chiaki is feeling frustrated by the orchestra’s playing and borrows a violin to demonstrate how it’s done. Though everyone is shocked to hear Chiaki’s violin skills for the first time, after practice, they think that Chiaki is too much of a spartan. Although Kiyora feels different and welcomes this part of Chiaki, where Kuroki feels that they aren’t following Chiaki. Sakuma and Keeko arrive to announce the publishment of the orchestra’s performance, and that they are called the Rising Star Orchestra. Though everyone is unhappy how Mine and his father thought up the name, but this motivates them to continue practicing.

Nodame Cantabile - 17

Chiaki has decided to play Brahms Symphony No.1 as his orchestra’s first performance, a piece that Stresemann wouldn’t let him perform with S-Orchestra. He meets up with Kimura who is taking care of the details and has gotten the help of the school director in reserving a hall. Keiko and Sakuma also drop by to help out in advertising about their performance, and Mine’s father jumps in to help as well. As they are discussing the performance, Kiyora comes rushing out from the back of the restaurant as she is teaching Mine as a form of payment for rent, though she can’t right now since she is running late.
