Wow did a lot of stuff just happen in this episode. First was Naoki’s father and heart his heart attack, then Naoki going to a marriage meeting, and now Kin-chan’s proposal to Kotoko. Although I expected Kin-chan would propose to Kotoko eventually but I didn’t expect it to be on their first date together. Still you have to admire Kin-chan to persevere with his feelings for Kotoko and that he’s shaped up to be quite the man, now that he’s becoming more steady in his job. But I don’t think Kotoko would consider marrying Kin-chan since she still has feelings for Naoki.

Wow, so Naoki now has some kind of direction in life. That’s quite a turn about though I wonder if that has anything to do with last episode when Kotoko suggested that Naoki become a doctor. So we do see signs that Kotoko is indeed making changes to Naoki’s life and in a positive way. Though it certainly has taken him a long time to figure out what to do with his life as I believe that if you don’t know what you want to do when entering univeristy or college, then you’re just setting yourself back. But thats just me.

So the premise of this episode was Kotoko being separated from the rest of the Irie family and I thought that it would create some great development. But I’m actually disappointed in this episode because we got none of that. It started off pretty good in which Naoki appeared to not give a damn when Kotoko left and that they went about in their daily lives, but I was hoping to see at least some drama or emotions from Kotoko and Naoki of not being near each other. Instead Yuuki gets sick and it fills up the rest of the episode.

Now Kotoko is pretty damn stupid for joining the tennis club because of Naoki, so her getting the racket imprinted on her face is what she deserved. But really, I don’t think anyone would have a racket imprint on their face for that long, and to top it off, Kotoko found out that Naoki doesn’t even need to be at the tennis club. Though I’ll be expecting some development between Yuko and Kotoko rivalry when Naoki isn’t there.

So after a somewhat big development from the last episode, it just seems like Kotoko is back to square one. Just what the hell is with that? Although I suppose it does make the show more interesting still if Naoki was still the jackass that he is. Anyway the pair are now in college but it’s just like high school, except wearing suits. Naoki is in a top level department whilst Kotoko as well as most of her classmates from Class F are in the same department. You’d think most people would try something other than the doing a course in art if they don’t have the brains to last through high school.

Graduations in anime series usually tend to bring a few laughs, and in Itazura na Kiss, it surely didn’t disappoint. Kotoko’s fantasies of winning over Naoki with prestige was just so out of place that I couldn’t help but laugh. However I would have to say that Kin-chan stole the show for the graduation ceremony with his declaration of love towards Kotoko and imagining that he was marrying Kotoko. I can only imagine how embarrassing that would have been for Kotoko. Shame that she’ll never forget all of that, lol.

Japanese students must have it pretty tough to be going through exams and Valentine’s Day as well. Though it doesn’t surprise me that Naoki pretty much brushed everything off as if the days weren’t that special. Thankfully Kotoko is there to keep his life all that much interesting, as well as supplying us with plenty of laughs. But it was also Kotoko’s influence that made him not take the exam for Tokyo University, yet it seems just like Kotoko to get appendicitis just as Naoki was going for his exam. I really thought it was the chocolate she made.
