I have said before that ARIA The Origination has taken the ARIA series to a new level, but after this episode, it has gone beyond everything that I love so much about ARIA. This episode was a special one as it covers on of my favourite chapters of the ARIA manga as we see Akari try out a traghetto, but more importantly, she meets other fellow undines. With the three undines, Atora, Ayumi, and Anzu, each with their own unique personalities has brought about a rather freshing feel to the overall series and they brought much interest into this episode.

There are times when I watch an ARIA episode where nothing really happens at all, or I’m not really following the underlying plot that is showing for that particular episode. With this episode, it’s a perfect example. Compared to other episodes where there is at least some kind of catalyst to make Akari explore the many wonders of Neo-Venezia, the only one we had this entire episode would be her encounter with Anri, the pastierre. But that isn’t to say that this wasn’t an enjoyable episode, but there were other things to marvel at in this episode.

If the first episode is any indication of how soothing a series such as ARIA can be, then the second episode can bring us all the same things, but with some added laughter along for the ride. Every single second there was a smile on my face as we see Akari convey Neo-Venezia through her eyes, but as well as when Amaranta shows the same thing but from a different perspective. I’ve always thought that the things we see through the daily lives of Akari, Aika, and Alice to be such a wonderful thing, but I’m still blown away every time we see something even grander later on.

OP: “Spirale” by Makino Yui
I’m so glad that Makino Yui has returned to perform the OP theme for this third season of ARIA. Just like the last two seasons, the OP plays through as the anime continues on. The OP theme itself feels different to Undine and Euforia, but it brings about that feeling that this is a new season.

With the ARIA The ORIGINATION anime set to air tonight, I thought that this would be an appropriate post to get the ARIA fans all geared up for it. Not to mention a few of you have been waiting for me to post this up. So having taken the time to take pictures last night in the somewhat grueling heat that is an Australian summer, here it is, ARIA Premium Poster Book 3! Hit the jump to check out the other pictures.

A little behind on the bandwagon for this but I realised that at the end of Sketchbook was the promotion video for ARIA The ORIGINATION. From the look of things, seems that they are not going to use the same style as the OVA which is rather a shame as I liked the style used in the OVA, even though it was all done entirely by the same staff. Although the quality appears to have improved over the previous two series as well that this season will be in WIDESCREEN!!! I’ve always believed that ARIA should have been in widescreen format from the very start so if they are going to do this for the third season, then I’m more than happy.
Unfortunately since ARIA airs on a Sunday night, the raws come out the Monday morning so I won’t be able to watch until I get back from work. Either way I look forward to the new season as well as looking through the manga once again to remember what episode is from what chapter of the manga. And from the looks of the poll I made, ARIA The ORIGINATION is the most anticipated show for Winter 2008.
Now of course, when they release a desktop calendar, there will always be a wall calendar, and this year is no exception. Having ordered it together with the 2008 Desktop calendar, I was greatly anticipating what the 2008 wall calendar holds. Having enjoyed immensely what the 2007 wall calendar had, I could only speculate that it would be just as awesome. So hit the jump to check out the photos.
