The journey in ARIA may be over for a lot of us, but it’s definitely a new beginning for many to come. This is something that I was hoping for and it’s finally here. ARIA has been licensed. Of course it’s not just the first season, ARIA The Animation, but it includes ARIA The Natural, ARIA The OVA ~Arietta~, and the third season ARIA The Origination. Oh happy days~~
One of the bets things about the news of this release is that TRSI will be releasing this as a complete boxset rather than individual volumes but as well as only having Japanese audio track and English subtitles. I must say this is certainly good news as I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to handle hearing an English dub of my all time favourite series. The first boxset will be released in September 2008, luckily it’s after my Japan trip, but now that I know there is a US release inbound, it makes me wonder if I should still buy the Japanese DVDs.
So once again, I shall make the trip to Neo-Venezia this year, thank you TRSI and Nozomi Entertainment.

Well it’s the long weekend for me here in Australia, and it’s a prime time to do some catch up on the backlog of figures. So I hope I can get through a lot of them in the next few days. This figure would have to be one of the most anticipated figures for 2007 after seeing the promotion pictures for it. Of course this figure is a big welcome to my ever-growing ARIA merchandise kingdom but by far would have to be one of the best items out of them all. With ARIA having finished for good, it certainly has brought about many tears that we will never again see the magic of Neo-Venezia and it’s inhabitants. Although the manga and anime has finished, it still lives on, in the form of merchandise! When was the last ARIA-related merchandise post?? I don’t remember. Anyway these actually arrived about two weeks ago and have been sitting on the ever growing pile of loot, so I figured it’s time to have a look at what’s inside. If there is such thing as perfection in this world, then this final episode of ARIA is exactly that. So many things happened this episode which brought out so many emotions as we come to the end of the journey for Alicia, but start once again with Akari’s journey in becoming a prima and taking over the company. Although it was certainly a surprise to find that Alicia was also getting married, but thanks to a few fellow ARIA fans, I got spoiled about this many weeks ago. But it was nice to know that this wasn’t the end of the road for Alicia, but a new road and a new life.

Each and every episode of ARIA it’s always difficult to find the words to describe it, but with this episode it’s more so, so I’ll try my best. Every single part that happens throughout this episode weaves the overall feeling that this was indeed beautiful. Beautiful in the ways that we see Akari being very supportive and cheerful about Aika’s promotion to Prima, everyone’s support of Akari during her Prima exam, and even the way that Alicia took off Akari’s glove. However the most beautiful thing to me was Akari’s answer to her path for her future, and that is none other than ARIA Company. We’ve always knew that Akari loves Aqua and that she loves her life in Neo-Venezia, but by answering her future is ARIA Company demonstrates she truly loves ARIA Company and understands what the company is.

Back in ARIA The NATURAL, we were always treated when an episode contains two stories, and now we finally get it in ARIA The ORIGINATION. The first half we have a Akira and Aika focused episode with Akira concerned about Aika’s feelings of Alice being promoted to Prima. In a master and apprentice relationship, usually the apprentice carries similar attributes to the master, but it’s also the task of the apprentice to exceed the master, and that is exactly what happened here. Akira thought that Aika would be just like her old self being depressed at others becoming a Prima before her, but Aika has shown that Alice’s double promotion has motivated her to try harder.

In a slice of life anime, you don’t see much romance development throughout the series, and ARIA is no different. However what it does do is skim through the theme and show us that such romance developments are possible and what better way to show that than through Aika and Al. This chapter is definitely one of the more memorable ones in the manga and personally I find it to the be the most romantic scenes between two characters. That is of course if you don’t count Akari and Cait Sith, the chemistry between Al and Aika is much more appealing.
