Supanova Sydney 2011
It has been a somewhat very busy past 5 months for me, MrOptic, and Mini that we all have neglected Moé Moé Rabu lately, but despite this I do find time to attend a convention. And with the weekend just past it was Supanova Sydney weekend. So heading out to Sydney Olympic park once again with MrOptic it was time to do what I do, take photos of cosplayers. So hit the jump to check them out.
With the Winter weather well underway, it was a cold day to turn up to a convention, but thankfully it was not raining. Upon exiting the station I could clearly see the line for the pay at the door in front of me and thus joined for the hour long wait. This year the lines were thought out better as pay at the door was on one side of The Dome, whilst prepaid were on the other side. Though the only issue of the pay at the door, it was in the shade, thus making it much more colder.
Once inside I made a quick look around before coming across the SUAnime and JAUWS tables to give my greetings, and then it was down to business. This year I bought myself a flash deflector, that I bought from eBay, instead of using the standard diffuser. Not to mention this is the first convention where I have the full camera gear since I bought the Canon 7D last year. I must say the results are definitely better than using the diffuser.
Overall it was a rather enjoyable day out and it has been a long time since I did any photography. At first i wasn’t too sure whether I would turn up to Supanova but really, going to Supanova ever year is quite fun. But like every year the crowd seems to get much bigger and the crowd photo above was taken just after 1pm. So it goes to show that Supanova is still quite a strong event and can only bring in a bigger crowd.
As for buying merchandise, the only thing I bought was the Evangelion 2.22 Blu-ray from the Madman booth. I have basically cut back on any merchandise spending this year, with the exception of manga and whatever AKB48 books I see at Kinokuniya. Anyway the next convention will be SMASH next month and I look forward to going to SMASH as this time I actually pre-booked my tickets. So see you there!
