The Combined Otaku Kingdom
As some of you may know, I have moved out of the family home. Well its been about 7-8 months since that has happened and life seems to never slow down when you’re busy with work and other things. Although the moving itself was completed within days of the planned relocation, the placement of furniture and otaku goods took a little longer. However this was no easy task as not only did I have my own collection of otaku goods, but there was also Roobar’s collection of otaku goods. Keep in mind that his collection is about 3 times larger than my own. So hit the jump to check out some photos of when you combine two massive collections together to form anew glorious kingdom.
Firstly I have to admit that these pictures were actually taken about a week and a half ago and that everything was sorted by December. I got too busy and too lazy to take photos back then. So it has only grown slightly since then. Oh and do forgive me for the crappy photos as I was packing my goods once again.
Starting first with the main wall that is both the living area and kitchen. What you see here is a row of shelves and cabinets and it follows as such: my shelf, Roobar’s cabinet, my cabinet, Roobar’s 2 shelves, and then my 2 shelves. All these contain only a selection of the figures, manga, doujins, and DVDs that we own. YES we had so much stuff that we couldn’t display it all.
Starting from one side this is the main living area. Of course we don’t do anything here since there are a number of boxes ling around the place. We also haven’t even sat on that couch since we ever moved it in. Also all those boxes belong to me and they contain some figures that I was packing away, plus there are a number of figures I no longer want.
A closer look shows the pile of figures that I no longer wish to keep (excluding the Miku nendoroids). I will hopefully get around to making a post about selling some of these figures, or possibly giving them away for free. Right now they’re all packed into a box somewhere.
The first shelf is mine and consists of all my CDs, doujinshi, artbooks, and other books. The Jumbo Zeta Gundam there is mine and the Red Zaku belongs to Roobar. You may have noticed another Jumbo Zeta in plane mode. That belongs to Roobar.
Next is Roobar’s cabinet. Everything in here is only a fraction of the amount of figures he owns. Since there is no room for another cabinet the figures are simply stacked elsewhere. Though once there is more room I’m sure he’ll get another one eventually.
This one is my cabinet. It contains much less than Roobar’s but I was being quite selective in which ones I wanted displayed. I even made an entire shelf containing Hatsune Miku figures. That Super Sonic Fate Testarossa figure only just fits into my cabinet.
Just opposite the wall of cabinets and shelves is the rest of Roobar’s collection. The picture doesn’t show it but the majority of that is figures. I can only estimate that there is about 200 or more figures in that pile.
This is the end shelf along the wall. I couldn’t take photos of the other shelf as I had no room to do so. But basically the two shelves belonging to Roobar contain his large manga collection, doujinshi and some artbooks. My two shelves here mainly contain all my manga and DVDs.
Next up is my room. This is from the doorway and as you can see the room is much more spacious than my room at the family home. But with a bigger room I opted for a bigger bed and a bigger desk. I used to sleep on a bunk but have upgraded to a double sized futon with ensemble. As you can see I have Miku watching over me whilst I sleep.
The desk itself is from Ikea. Roobar’s place is practically 5 mins from Ikea. All I can say is that this desk is awesome and big, but it did come with a big price tag. Here you see where I do all my work with a bunch of crap sprawled on the desk. I normally have my sweet Erika on the desk watching me but she isn’t present at this time.
Lastly this is the other side of the bed and look at what I wake up to every morning. Definitely something nice on the eyes when lazing in bed or when I need a wake up call. With all these photos the place looks like a mess. At the time the photos were taken I was once again packing up my belongings as I am moving once again. Most unfortunate that the combined otaku kingdom only lasted for so long but where I’m moving to will be even better.
At least the 2nd time around the amount of things I have to pack is much less than the first time. For starters I’m not packing up an entire house. Still it amazes me how much stuff I had and how I managed to fit most of it in my tiny tiny room is beyond me. But do look forward to what my new place looks like as it’ll be much more organised than this.
