Ladies versus Butlers – 01

“Servant! Look at my *face* when I’m talking to you!”

The combination of the “ladies and butlers” asthetic along with Kanokon’s sensibilities certainly does not disappoint. Just don’t watch it in mixed company unless your companions are open-minded.

A good start

Akiharu looks like a delinquent but he’s been transferred to the servants’ section of Hakureiryou high school. A confrontation with Selnia leads to a chase through the school grounds and Akiharu accidentally rendering several female students unconscious. When his childhood “friend” Tomomi arrives to save the day, Akiharu is in for a rough time.

He probably has the “Lynx Effect”

Akiharu: This tough-talking dude is supposed to be studying the fine art of butlery, but he’s going to have a tricky time of it if he keeps clashing with Selnia. Props for not being the stereotypical “oh god I touched a girl, nosebleed city” type.

Don’t be fooled, that’s no halo

Tomomi: She appears to be the typical good girl, but Tomomi hides a mean streak, especially when it comes to Akiharu. This lady is going to keep things interesting for the show.

“Those plebians don’t appreciate my dynamic hair-style!”

Selnia: Posh, stubborn, and straight-laced, Selnia’s drill-like hair is a rather apt symbol of her personality. She’s not going to be making things easy for Akiharu.

Like a deer in headlights, Mimina is mesmerised by Akiharu

Mimina: She looks small but Mimina’s just underdeveloped – “I’m nineteen!” An innocent artistic girl until Akiharu gets his hands on her – or at least that’s how Selnia would see it.

If you think this looks suspect, wait until you hear the sound effects

Sanae: How such a clumsy girl is aiming to become a maid, I’ll never know. Nevertheless, Sanae is the main contributor to the “moé-blob” demographic.

The trap is set

First Impressions: Ladies versus Butlers is a fun comedy anime with lots of cute girls and a generous helping of fan-service. The voice acting is great, especially Mai Nakahara as the uptight Selnia Flameheart. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on this series in the forthcoming weeks.
