As a kid we all grow up with books that everyone will know about and love. One of the books would have to be Where’s Wally? series. During primary school I would spend a lot of the time in the library going through the books trying to find Wally as well as go through the checklist (it was also a great way to train my eyes to be as sharp as an eagle!). So what would happen if you combine a childhood favourite book like Where’s Wally? with the hobby of cars, and the awesome UK TV show Top Gear? Well you get a book called Where’s Stig?
I first spotted this about 2 weeks ago when I was in Kinokuniya since I was going to watch a movie at the Japanese Film Festival in the city. Being a Top Gear fan I rushed over to have a look and having a flick through I was quite amused at the concept. However at the time I didn’t purchase it since it wouldn’t fit in my bag. But the next week I bought it and I can say that this is one of the best books I bought for this year.
The inside cover has Stig in various poses.
With Top Gear being not only being about The Stig, it also features the 3 main hosts: Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. But it also includes other people like the Producer, Challenge Man, Top Gear Dog, and the Ghost of Black Stig just to name a few. They are also characters that you can search for in the various scenarios that come in this book.
The first scenario is obviously the Top Gear Studio.
The Deep South
This is a out of place one: Stigs in Space
Stigs Secret Bunker. This and Stigs in Space reminds me of those absolute difficult ones in Where’s Wally where you had to find Wally amongst a sea of Wally impersonators.
The Stig is so awesome that he has a rock concert dedicated to him.
Just like in Where’s Wally there’s a checklist of other items to find in the scenarios.
And just a disclaimer.
For those who are fans of Top Gear, this is definitely a book you should get. Though even if you’re not a fan it in itself is a pretty humorous book. I picked this up in the Comedy/Humour section near the manga section in Kinokuniya for a reasonable $30AUD. Of course for those elsewhere, you could probably look for it in a local bookstore or you can order from Amazon (Top Gear: Where’s Stig?).
