Seeing as I haven’t blogged for some time, I figured I should get back on the bandwagon. Since the current anime season has progressed somewhat, there’s not much point in posting synopses for the series I’m watching (Seitokai no Ichizon and The Adventures of Biribiri… erm, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun), so here’s a bit of fun.
I’ll be doing two lists – Yellow Rose and Red Rose. Those of you who know the meaning of flower colours will see where I’m going with this – if not, I guess a crude way of differentiating the two could be Kawaii Imouto and MAI WAIFU. You get the drift.
12. Henrietta – Gunslinger Girl
For an adolescent girl, Henrietta sure does pack a lot of heat thanks to her enhanced body.. She’s the cutest little killer I know, and has an amazing sense of devotion to boot.
11. Ayumu Nishizawa – Hayate the Combat Butler
I actually had a hell of a time deciding into which list I should be placing Ayumu. In the analysis, she’s more of a cute type than a hot type. I also approve of her frequent snacking which she apparently does in the anime – I’ve only read the manga.
10. Kana Nakamachi – Kanamemo
Even being evicted from her late grandmother’s house doesn’t get this paper delivery girl down. Kana may be one heck of a klutz sometimes but she always bounces back, which I find endearing.
9. Otoha Sakurano – Sky Girls
Sword swinger, mecha pilot, and slayer of nanotech monsters – Otoha does it in style, and looks cute doing it too. Those interface modules on her head look like bunny ears, which earns extra moé points.
8. Kurimu Sakurano – Seitokai no Ichizon
This pint-sized wonder has the occasional delusion of grandeur but still responds to being pampered like a little kid, even though she’s in high school. Honestly I could just watch her eat those rabbit candies all damn day.
7. Yayoi Takatsuki – Idolm@ster
Even though she’s an aspiring idol, Yayoi isn’t actually that well-off financially, so she does odd jobs on top of her usual performance work. That sort of endless energy is a large part of why I like this girl so much.
6. Yotsuba – Sister Princess
With the otaku heritage of myself and Adun, an inclusion from Sister Princess in these lists was going to be a certainty. For me, Yotsuba’s appeal points would be her hyper-inquisitiveness, the twin-tails, her “fang”, and her sense of fashion: the shirt-and-tie look being a rarity in the female anime set.
5. Latooni Subota – Super Robot Wars
This defender of Earth used to be a shy and withdrawn sort, but she’s since blossomed into a more open individual. She even managed to score a custom mecha to pilot alongside Princess Shine, which is another point of excellence.
4. Remilia Scarlet – Touhou
Disclaimer: I still haven’t played any Touhou games, so my judgement of Remilia’s personality is based on doujinshi and fan-art. She appears to be a precocious little vampire, but rockets up the moé factor when she’s subjected to Charisma Break (being embarassed, flustered, etc.)
3. Shiro Tougi – Fortune Arterial
Talk about a figurative porcelain doll. Shiro’s a delicate and shy girl who is actually a caring sort once you get to know her. She’s also good with animals, or at least rabbits at any rate. Shiro also appears to speak with a cute lisp.
2. Tsukasa Hiiragi – Lucky Star
Much like Kurimu and her candies, I could watch Tsukasa send text messages on her phone all day. She’s an adorable girl who may be a little slow on the uptake but she does her best to catch up.
1. Yoshika Miyafuji – Strike Witches
If I was to spruce up my car itasha-style, Yoshika would definitely be my mascot. This avatar of aerial speed is determined and amazingly courageous in the face of danger. Yoshika was even awesome enough to be in a first-contact situation with an unknown species. Plus there’s those cute little animal ears and bushy tail when she’s in witch mode.
