This one’s for the Tribes fans. I don’t actually get this joke
Now that I’ve had a decent rest and recovery from the flight back (cursed travel sickness), I can post a Comiket follow-up. I’ll start off with questions that were submitted in the last post.
- I did get hold of most of the Gift plushies; there will be a loot photo later in this post. I did miss out on the Suwako plushy; I had no idea that she was so popular, as I figured Cirno would be sold out first. Sadly I was only able to get one pair of the Mikus, and they went to Adun. I grabbed a couple of the Reimu Nendoroids too on separate days
- Day 1 was the least hot of the three days thanks to some post-typhoon cloud cover. All three days were in the high 20s or low 30s, and the effect was multiplied whenever I didn’t have any shade. Any breezes that blew through felt like the breath of Buddha.
- There’s no AC in Big Site because the venue’s just too large, and the East and West Halls have large loading doors that are open to the outside.
Here’s a few pictures I took. Not a lot to see since the majority of my time was spent with bags in both hands, moving from hall to hall as quickly as possible before my arm muscles gave way.
Day 1:

6:30 line-up, conditions weren’t as bad as I had predicted.

On the move into the building proper.

Lining up for Good Smile Company. For some reason this shot is under-exposed. The picture just looks like a mass of people but there were actually clearly designated lines for the industry booths. Further to my right was the Type-Moon line, and immediately to my left were people transiting from other parts of West Hall Upper.

A typical view of the doujinshi halls, complete with the more active con-goers moving at relativistic speeds.

A rare shot of a quiet moment in Comiket.
Day 2:

Walking along the bridge with the 8:30 crowd, which turned out to be the worst of both worlds. At least I’ve experienced this and can file it into my Comiket knowledge base.

The lines on the bridge were 6-8 people wide and snaked back and forth. No shade at all here, hence a whole lotta towel-on-head action.
Day 3:

The 10am start led me through the car-park that was designated for the East Hall early-starters.

As you can see, everyone here had moved into the halls already to feast on the flesh of doujinshi circles. It’s a cruel life, this Comiket.
This is a picture of the loot from my whole trip.

The two left-most doujin piles are from Comiket, and the one on the right is mostly comprised of doujinshi from particular circles which I bought en-masse, as well as CM76 releases I missed out getting at the event. Yeah there’s two Sanae plushies, deal with it.
Notable finds were a copy of Fortune Arterial complete with telephone card, a set of Kaoru Tanamachi goods (my favourite Amagami girl) - T-shirt and tapestry not pictured, and a hard-to-find yuri doujin-soft game.
Those in the know (all two of you) will realise that there are some significant items that are missing from this photo; I may showcase them later. Also missing are non-mania-related items, like clothes I bought at Shibuya 109-2.

Wow, also surprised that Cirno was not the first one sold out. Such a popular character. I do like her expression. Mostly interested in Sanae and Miku though. Hope there not over 10,000 yen in second hand stores like when the first Touhou gift plushies came out.
Nice Hinagiku dakimakura btw.

how much did shipping cost you ?
pp’s last blog post..A.C.M.E ; 5mins for me
Uwa, that’s a huge stash of loot! I see the Tinkle poster ^^. I spent a small fortune to buy just a few goods through YJA. Having to use stupidly expensive deputy services almost makes me think I could save money by just flying to Japan for Comiket ^^;
No AC though… that many people packed in the building must make it boiling hot >_<
anonymous_object’s last blog post..Atelier Sai’s Kagami now shipping
Which yuri doujin-soft game?
@Punynari: Circo does look a bit mischievous, doesn’t she? Obviously up to something sneaky.
@pp: I’d rather not think about that =_=; Let’s just leave it as “lots”.
@Tsu: It’s a se-cr-et
Sorry we didn’t get a chance to meet up >..<.
Those crowds are absolutely ridiculous! You are a brave man, sir.
