Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica Crimson S – 05
Firstly, wow, Phoron can really pull through if he tries. I think this is the first time that I’ve ever seen him angry and determined. Usually we see him very passive and always doubtful, but I guess he’s the type to be more of a “man-up in the moment”. Although he still took a more mature method of dealing with Danguis, I still think he was too passive in how he handled it. Perhaps if he did it in a more confident manner I probably would’ve accepted it. Still it comes as no surprise that Danguis was easily under the control of others due to his pride and arrogance, but I do hope we won’t have to see him anymore in the future episodes as he is such an annoying side character.
I loved how Corti called Badgers a tanuki because I thought the exact same thing. Even more so when she called him a fake tanuki. Also seeing the girls reactions to Phoron’s attitude over the love letter was amusing and cute on its own. Still I can’t figure out if Phoron is an idiot or ignorant when it comes to the girls. In a way I suppose he sees Corti as a partner due to the contract rather than a lover, and the Yugiri sisters as good friends. Speaking of the sisters, seems that there is something about Prine, given the small sparkles coming from her at the start. I’m still hoping that they work on developing the sisters for at least one episode but now that the main story is rolling, that may not happen.
Its still a mystery of what is actually happening in terms of the main story as there are too many questions and not enough answers, especially with the actions of the Principal. All we see in this episode is Leica and Badgers testing Phoron and Corti and aiming for her to bring out her powers as a 6-winged spirit. Since the enemy is looking for some kind of treasure, I’m guessing they are planning to use Phoron and Corti in helping them find it. And from the Principal’s perspective it seems the pair is what will defeat this enemy.
So far the series has been pretty flat since it’s mainly focused on Phoron’s personal issuesand the progression of the main story only started last episode. I’m all for more Corti x Phoron development, but with Phoron’s nature as a passive type doesn’t sit well with me, and he gets overshadowed by Corti anyway. Also I’m liking the series so far compared to the first due to more action and that there’s an actual continung storyline.
