Oh! Club of Light Music! The moé of the people.
To K-ON’s triumph lead us on!

If all else fails, use hypnotism.
The time has come for our awesome foursome to show off their music skills in front of a live audience. And what a show it was! Quite a sizeable portion of this episode was about our musical paradox - Mio appeared to be the most reluctant of the music club members, but as we’ve seen she’s the one who has taken the music club as “serious business”. It might also be fair to say that Mio is the least chilled out participant in what’s supposed to be a hobby, but at least her heart’s in right place.

“You love me! You really love me!”
Mio even gets a fan club - but whether that’s because of her music, her cuteness, or her (accidental) exhibitionism, who can tell.

“omg stage performance omg sweet cakes OMG!!!”
Yui was utterly pumped up for her first live performance, and was bursting with energy - at least in the emotional sense, because physical labour still isn’t her forte. I was pleasantly surprised that the powers-that-be decided to keep the cracked-voice running gag, even during the insert song. In fact it took me twice as long as normal to watch Episode 6 because I had to stop and recover from laughter every time Yui said something. Don’t even get me started on the “sumo scene”.

This time it’s Ritsu’s turn to do a ‘Ranka Lee’.
Somehow the animation staff managed to make Ritsu look even cuter than usual, by way of flashback. Young Ritsu’s volume and bluntness reminded me of Misao of Lucky Star, so two thumbs up from me. Ritsu once agan showed why she’s deserving of the position of club leader, by defusing a potentially nerve-wracking situation with an impromptu “M.C. session”. Her jumps into super-deformed mode were awesomely adorable.

Yep, she’s definitely the ‘healing type’.
Tsumugi was relegated into a secondary role this episode, though she did get a star turn by scaring the daylights out of Mio in the haunted house. I had written about Mugi-chan being the quiet strength of the band, but I had forgotten about her literal physical strength as well. Also, her winsome nurse cosplay can’t go without a mention.

I wonder if she made all the costumes too.
Good old (whoops) Sawako did her best as an advisor, but it seemed more like she wanted to use the band girls as dress-up dolls. I was surprised to see that she kept at least one of the costumes from her “bad girl” days. C’mon sensei, let’s see you wear the goth clothes officially, not just in the fan-art.

“Help, someone’s stolen part of our colour palette!”
Also, kudos to the animators for creating a mini-PV for the insert song. Even if it appeared that Yui almost tarnished her good-girl image by channeling Sawa-chan for a moment.

“Dosukoi!”
Editorial: Thanks to all the cool dudes who celebrated my birthday with me!

I was a bit disappointed in the lack of showing their first performance on stage and covering it up with a pv, but the pv was alright. Great episode though, thanks to Yui I laughed like crazy throughout a lot of it.
