Mighty Musical Power Rangers, advance!
If Yui is K-ON’s Luke Skywalker, this is the episode where she meets her Obi Wan Kenobi.

Mio: still a crybaby
The school festival is closing in and the light music club are hard at work, practising for their stage debut. Just a couple of hitches - the club paperwork was never submitted because Ritsu was distracted by a snack, and they plain forgot that each school club requires and advisor.

It must be sabotage. It can’t be Ritsu’s fault, because Ritsu owns.
Off the intreprid quartet go and stalk a likely candidate: Sawako, a.k.a. Sawa-chan. Sawako is rather reluctant to be an advisor to both the woodwind club and the light music club. To snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, Yui deploys another of her hidden talents and mentions the similarity between Sawako and a member of a previous light music club.

You know of what I speak, Sawako: a great Eye, listless, wreathed in cute.
One short chase scene later, Sawako’s forced to reveal her sordid past as a hard rocker and, seizing the initiative, Ritsu uses this revelation to “convince” her to take an advisory position.

Ritsu makes an offer Sawako can’t refuse. Did I already say that Ritsu owns?
Did I say there were a couple of hitches? Make that three - the band have a music piece but forgot the lyrics. Mio puts pen to paper and comes up with some lyrics, but they’re cringe-worthy enough to make Sawako and Ritsu squirm, and Mio doesn’t even want to sing them. Then comes my favourite part of the episode - Yui going into hyper-moe mode to secure the role of lead vocalist. Pity that Sawako put Yui through the wringer so much that her vocal chords pack it in, and Mio’s forced to sing after all.

How could you deny anything to a face like that?
All through this episode, Tsumugi is giving hints that she may be “batting for the other team”. If not total yuri, then she’s at least proving to be somewhat of a shoujo-ai enthusiast. The manga even shows her going into “Mugi-vision” when she sees Yui getting up and close to Mio to complement her lyric writing skills.

Adun fervently wishes that Mugi-chan would confess to him like this.
Editorial: All overtime and no play makes Mini rather tired.

Sawa-chan: rock goddess, drama queen

The Sawako blackmailing in this ep was great. And I, for one, am looking forward to Mio singing her own sugary cute lyrics ^^

@anonymous object: If you haven’t read the manga, there may be a special surprise at the end of the concert.
@phossil: The sparkles, puppy-dog eyes, eyebrow curvature, blushing face - it’s a rather effective ensemble.
@gordon: At the very least, she likes to watch.

Mio in that second picture is insanely cute. Well, everything about this show is XD. I haven’t seen this episode yet.

Never would have imagined yuri in this, but I guess it’s to be expected in an all school girl anime. Mio blushing and passing out in the end was funny and cute. Even the lyrics and the name of the song were cute lol.

Oh, I would love to blackmail Sawa-chan alright.

I like Ritsu blackmailing Sawa-chan. I also like how Ritsu ignore Yui and insisting Tsumugi to sing, while Yui certainly want the vocalist role. This episode is the best of K-ON! so far.
I love her scary side.
She’s the beast from within. ^^
