Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica Crimson S – 01
OP: “phosphorus” by eufonius
Every new season there is always one show that an anime fan highly anticipates above any other series that is also planned to air. For me I seem to choose the most uncommon choice compared to a lot of other people and for me this season, it would have to be Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica Crimson S (that’s a really long title). Though I’m sure some people remember the tragedy that was the first series, which was plagued with some of the worse animation I have ever seen, and it also lacked a good solid story where it opted for a creature of the week scenario.
With this new series, I do hope we get something a bit more, preferably more development between characters and with the first episode starting from school life, it looks promising. Though the problem is that Phoron is such a weak character that I doubt we’ll see much improvement of him over the series, hence why Corti and Perserte little conflict brings much needed entertainment. Actually the entire reason for watching Polyphonica is because of Corti. A rather demanding spirit, that’s a part of her charm and combining with beauty its why I consider her to be a true bishoujo. Oh and having Tomatsu Haruka voicing Corti just makes it that much more awesome. Of course Perserte (Mizuki Nana) and Prinesca (Satou Rina) are also cute girls.
The main factor for this series is definitely the animation quality. Although still not exactly the best in the business, but its much better than the first series. Still its a shame that it’s nowhere near the awesome quality of the visual novel CG. OP theme is once again performed by eufonius but doesn’t have the same feeling as the first series OP. I’m usually a fan of eufonius songs but this one just hasn’t settled with me, but given time I’m sure I’ll like it. This episode unfortunately doesn’t have an ED sequence but I look forward to hearing it in the next episode.
So I look forward to seeing the school life development side of the Polyphonica series and I do hope we can see something more develop as the series continues. But I’m not expecting too much. Either way, the more Corti, the better.
