Erika’s new clothes & the sting of buying from YJA
One of the things about becoming a dollfie owner is that you don’t want to stop at just having a dollfie. You want to mold your beloved into something much more and that means customization. However to reach that vision of perfection comes at a cost, and it certainly isn’t cheap. Unless you have a pretty fat wallet, or take no heed to prices, or have an insatiable BURNING PASSION, much like myself. In the end I had certainly dug deep to acquire myself a brand new set of clothes for my beloved Erika:
It was back in December that I discovered that Volks were releasing two outfits made for Erika and I knew that I had to get one of them. Or possibly both. In the end I decided on only one and that was the smart casual dress.
However my knowledge in how certain events work with the Volks Online store was limited and I thought it was for Japanese residents only, so I opted to wait until I saw them on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Oh but how that would bite me back later on. With the website event running from the 1st January to the 6th January, it wasn’t until the 2nd January that I realised that the event was also open to the international buyers after checking the English version of the site. I swear sometimes the Volks website is so hard to navigate as well as trying to dig up old links. Still it wouldn’t have helped either way since I was pretty much drunk on the 1st January.
Anyway after much processing through Rinkya, the package arrived in January the day before I broke out in chicken pox. Only recently have I opened the package since I didn’t want my disease ridden body touching them, lol.
Such lovely clothing, and it has frills!! There’s just something about frills and lace that make dollfies look so beautiful. Still it’ll be a while till I change her clothes as I’m kind of busy (but also kind of lazy), but more importantly I want to get around to opening Roobar’s dollfie.
So how much of a hole did this burn? Firstly, the normal retail price for this clothes set was ¥9,800, on the auction: ¥21,500. But it doesn’t stop there. Add in a commission of $37USD and then a $15USD handling fee. That was simply to pay for the item and to have it shipped to Rinkya. Once the item had arrived at Rinkya, it was time to have it shipped to me, and for something so expensive EMS is the way to go. Shipping was $35.76USD. So adding all this up and factoring in the rise and fall of the Aussie dollar, the total came to $478.05AUD. So something that would’ve costed me roughly $200AUD ended up being more than double that.
By far this is my most expensive purchase for 2009 and also my most expensive purchase from YJA. Stripey has began his downfall into the abyss of dealing with commissions, fees, and shipping but I pray that he doesn’t start making any rash purchases. As for myself it’s hard enough to not look through the auctions for other dollfies items (or dollfies themselves) that may perk my interest. So in the mean time, I shall have to satisfy myself with what I have and some of these:
Delicious blueberry cheesecake and apple flavoured Kit Kats. Look forward to photos of Erika in her new clothes in the near future.
