Arriving in Japan and full of beer

It’s been a while since I stayed up for a number of days without sleep, and on Thursday night/Friday morning, I literally haven’t slept since Wednesday night. Packing took me a little while due to having to sort through a lot of things and having to find a lot of things to take along with my trip as well. In the end I got it all done before 3am but still didn’t bother going to sleep. The flight was at 8:40am and boy was it damn cold.

Do excuse some of the quality of the photos as I took them with the digital camera since I was still lugging around all my camera equipment in a separate bag. But yeah, that’s pretty much the four of us, all ready to head off to Japan. So after a rather long 9 hours flight and powernaps, we landed and got through the finger scanning process quicker than I had thought. Here’s where the real challenge started to happen, heading to the hotel from the airport.

Now it’s been a while but I remembered how to do most things like buying a ticket, but I still lacked the skill to read Japanese. From the airport, it took us a rather long 2 hours to get to the hotel mainly as well because of crap directions that I got printed off for me. In the end we found it but was dead tired. So after dropping off our gear we headed out to dinner and found this rather nice place that was secluded away from the main street.

And of course this being Japan and me being on holidays, I’ve been doing some drinking (I actually started on the airplane) and I’m pretty exhausted from not having slept since Wednesday, a 9 hour long flight, drinking beer, and walking around finding the hotel (I’m actually writing this under the influence of alcohol as well).

With vending machines everywhere even in the most remotely sections of alleyways, it can only mean one thing. I’m back in Japan baby!! And this time with a vengeance (and a lot of money).

Well, I myself don’t drink much due to the fact I drink tea most of the time. There are times I do drink but not that much.
Dude, watch your health, you don’t want to die out of exhaustion, some guy died playing Starcraft like that. So get some sleep before Wonderfest!!!!!

Panther: Actually I got less than 5 hours sleep on the first night.

Rin: This is like a prime time for me to drink up since it’s much cheaper here in Japan to drink than it does at home.

Danny Choo: Hopefully I get to meet up with you at Wonderfest.

Blueplains: Actually I think that would be the best thing to do.

Good to hear you made it to Japan. Man, my brothers number one thing he misses from Japan are the vending machines. In America, you don’t get that kind of selection, just soda and water mostly. Also, they are everywhere. If you hike up a mountain, theres going to be several at the summit and on the way as well. (:

Off Topic: Went to Shirakawago at last today (well yesterday now). Well worth the trip but the train from Nagoya to Takayama has a sporatic schedule (waited 2 hours for one to go home). This is deffinetly not a side trip but a full day trip (even though the expressway is finished and it takes only 50 mins now from Takayama on the bus). It will probably be different for you if you go on the count of you driving. Also, I was shocked to see they spoke English in both Shirakawago and Takayama (:
