My third anticipated series for the spring season would have to be this. Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu is about Nogizaka Haruka who is the school’s idol but with one secret, she’s an otaku. Ayase Yuto discovers her secret and the two become friends. When I first read up on this series I figured it would be right up my alley, and it is. The cute girls and all is one factor that has drawn my attention, but what I really enjoyed about the first episode was just it’s simplicity. The simplicity that this is just another high school romance comedy, except the main male character is a bit laid back.

Impressions

Haruka is one of the more cute female characters for this spring season and is voiced by none other than Noto Mamiko.I was hoping that it would be an awesome combination, but for some reason I didn’t get that same vibe that I got when she voiced Matsuri in sola or even Kotomi in Clannad. It must be because of her recent role as Kouta in Kanokon. Damn it, that show seemed to have ruined Noto Mamiko’s voice for me. But I’m sure I’ll get used to it as the series goes on. Still, Haruka is only one of the charactersand there are many more. I do like how simplistic this episode was but I can easily imagine this getting a little more dynamic with some of the more rounded characters. Not to mention the fanservice will probably be raised if the OP sequence has anything to say about this series.

I was actually kind of skeptical about the quality of this series seeing how that Studio Barcelona is in charge. They don’t have too many titles under their belt so I’m always weary about studios like these. The promos I saw made the series look really good and I hope it can stay consistent throughout. Although I’m not too much of a fan on the ED sequence as it looks so blocky and I’m not sure if that was the style they were going for. Music wise it’s done nothing for me at this stage. Out of all the first episodes I’ve seen this season, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu would have to be the best one I’ve seen and is probably going to be my number one pick.

As much as I would like to blog about it, I’ve come to the decision to not blog anything from the spring season given that I will be away for all of August. But one thing for sure, I can’t wait to watch more, heck I can’t wait to actually watch this on Japanese TV.
