Opening Sequence:

OP: “Hatena de Wasshoi” by Asumi Kana, Mizuhashi Kaori, Shintani Ryoko & Goto Yuko

Fast paced and colorful just like in the first season. Yes Hidamari Sketch is back with a second season and this OP theme is just as catchy as the first season’s OP theme.

Impressions

The 2nd most anticipated series for me this season would have to be this, Hidamari Sketch x 365. When I watched the first season I was confused at the start but it grew on me and I started loving every bit of it, like Miyako’s bizarre behaviour and easy going attitude, Hiro’s insecurity about her weight, Sae’s workaholic nature and Yuno’s childish charm. And we get all of that once again in the second season. However instead of continuing on from where we left off, we’re taken right back to the start of it alland discover how the 4 girls came to meet each other. It’s actually good this way as it reintroduces us to all 4 girls and showing what we love so much about them.

Other old characters make a return such as the Principal, Yoshinoya-sensei and even the landlord of Hidamari Apartments. But what I noticed in the OP sequence is the addition of some new characters like one of the teachers and a student that sat next to Yuno during her entrance exam. I look forward to seeing them introduced as one of them is voiced by Kugimiya Rie. So a high chance of a tsundere being a part of the cast. But what I really can’t wait for is more awesome Yoshinoya-sensei moments and her array of costumes she usually has ready.

Handled by SHAFT who produced the first season, but they had a number of successes under their belt since the first season such as ef ~a tale of memories~ and the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei series so I hope we’ll see someeven more interesting artistic flair throughout the series, or what I would call acid trips, lol. A definite on the watch list and a contender for me to blog, but we’ll see how the schedule goes. My only qualm is that the widescreen version probably won’t be aired until a few weeks later, I think.

Ending Sequence:

ED: “Ryūsei Record” by marble

marble returns as the performer for the ED sequence and once again have produced a wonderful song to match the series. Of course I don’t want to compare this too much to Mebae Drive as I’m sure this ED theme will grow on m.
