Da Capo II SS - 12

One of the many things that I liked about the original Da Capo series was the leading up to Sakura giving up on Junnichi for the sake of saving Nemu. At that time I haven’t encountered many anime series that had expressed such emotion amongst the characters that are very close to each other and that the love between siblings can go to such lengths. After a huge disappointment from the first season of Da Capo II, I had my doubts if the second season could bring forth what the original series was about, but after this episode, I can say that it has.

Impressions

Normally in other series we would have had 2-3 episodes that lead up to the dramatic parts and rush through them all, but with Da Capo II SS it has been going on for at least 4 episodes with it going between both Yume and Otome. That’s the other great thing about this episode as well, how it managed to switch between the two sisters, but also give them ample time to be with Yoshiyuki and express their feelings. I never really got to play Yume’s route in the game but I know that everything that happened in this episode was pretty close to it. But it was a pleasure to see Yume become so much more nature in her behaviour and big points go to her for her quick response to Nanaka, Koko and Wataru about being alone and taking the entire day off from school to spend time with Yoshiyuki.

I’m also glad that Otome had a chance to see Yoshiyuki, but also to see her try to act strong before breaking down into tears. Though when I heard Otome confess that she loves Yoshiyuki, I think a heart string of mine got tugged. She just let out everything once again from the moment she confessed till after Yoshiyuki had disappeared. But it once again brings back the same message that we saw in Da Capo and Da Capo Second Season and that is magic doesn’t bring happiness to anyone. With Sakura, Junnichi, and now Yoshiyuki gone, there is nothing left for the Asakura sisters except loneliness. Although this isn’t the end as there is still the final episode, but I’m looking forward to it still even though I know what is going to happen.
