So Yoshiyuki finally learns the truth about himself and he took it rather well. It’s actually kind of disappointing how he doesn’t seem too fazed about him being created by the sakura tree and from Sakura’s wish for family. But in the end Yoshiyuki helped Otome make the choice that she couldn’t make but it really feels that he hasn’t done anything at all. But his choice to witherthe sakura tree is a righteous choice and it’s the only thing he could do for everyone else.

Impressions
The highlight for this episode was Yoshiyuki meeting Sakura in his dreams. If there is one thing I loved about Da Capo, other than all the moé characters, its the dream sequencesthat the protagonist experiences. It’s such a magical experience but it’s also where the focus of the stories are usually portrayed. Having Yoshiyuki meet Sakura in the dream and finding out the truth makes itbeautiful in a sense. I think Yoshiyuki never considered to think of Sakura as a mother but more of a sister/friend and when he called Sakura “mother”, it was the first time he acknowleged her as his true mother. I mentioned this before but I think Sakura’s story is probably the saddest since her pain and suffering has expanded over the years, and I guess this is probably the best way for her story to end. Though I’m kind of expecting her to make another appearance at the end of the series.
Otome really is a weak person, which is kind of strange since she’s always given off the image of a reliable person. Seeing her cry out like that I wouldn’t exactly say was moving, but you can understand the suffering that she has endoured to this moment. Out of the two sisters, I do believe that Otome loves Yoshiyuki the most due to their childhood together and that Otome has felt that she and Yoshiyuki were one of a kind. Her loneliness healed by Yoshiyuki’s presence, and knowing that withering the sakura tree would make that loneliness return.
So now that the sakura tree has withered, we’ll see how Otome and Yume cope with Yoshiyuki’s disappearance as it approaches. I look forward to how this will end.
