Supanova Sydney 2008 - Sunday Part 2

Cosplay competitions are always so awesome as we see many of the cosplayers around go upstage and strut their stuff, but it also means that I can sit after after walking around for about 3 hours. I got the exact same spot as Saturday so I was in a pretty prime position. But sitting down probably made it worse since I haven’t eaten the entire day and only lasting off a can of V. Still I soldier on so hit the jump to check out the rest of the photos for Supanova Sydney 2008 Sunday. WARNING: Picture intensive post.

A shot of the crowd waiting for the cosplay competition to start. I wished I could’ve jumped on the stage to take a photo of the crowd though I probably would’ve been taken down by stage ninjas.

And that’s the end of the photos for Supanova Sydney 2008 Sunday. I didn’t stick around to find out who won the competition or take any more photos as I was dying from hunger and thirst ( I actually didn’t eat or drink anything until 7:30 pm). Anyway if you want photos, send me an email (details can be found on the About page). Also don’t forget to check out Bubby’s collection of photos for Supanova Sydney 2008 Sunday.

During the Saturday and Sunday contest, the crowd didn’t really seem all that excited, which is something the MC brought up now and then. I had a look around and it seemed to be pretty true as it seemed like most people were pretty bored, or tired. Perhaps I should take a trip to Supanova Brisbane next year to see how much more excited the crowds are there. Its funny with that as many of the regular people I see at conventions ask me if I’m going to the next one in the next state. Lets just say I’d be a very poor man if I went to every convention in Australia.

So it’s been close to three years since I started taking photos at conventions and/or the occasional events, yet it still seems that I suck at it. I should probably do some more reading on photography rather than trying to learn from trial and error as I have been doing so. Also throughout the weekend I used a Canon 18-85mm IS USM lens that I borrowed and bloody hell it makes a difference over the 18-55mm standard lens. Like I mentioned in the previous post, this could be the last Australian convention for 2008, but do look forward to my coverage of the Japanese conventions later in August.

Also look forward to my merchandise post as it is of EPIC proportions!

blissmo: Did you attend Supanova? I met a number of people so my memory is kind of fuzzy at the moment.

Pudding: You don’t always need money to go the second day. Though I think you would need a good reason to turn up the 2nd day assuming you dont want to buy anything.

Optic: There are plenty of things to do but that purely is dependent on your tastes and what events interest you.
