Supanova Sydney 2008 - Sunday Part 1

So after a rather eventful Supanova Saturday, it was a mission to make it to the Sunday. I got back home around 1am and spent an hour or two working on the photos from the Saturday until I couldn’t see the screen anymore. So with my equipment reorganised, lasting on about 3-4 hours of sleep, a drinking only a can of V, and having a significantly lighter wallet I made my way once again to Olympic Park. WARNING: Picture intensive post.

Arriving at The Dome roughly around 11:00 am it wasn’t as packed as the Saturday, which is to be expected as I’m sure people are broke from buying so much. Actually that would be my excuse if I wasn’t going for photography, lol. Unfortunately I arrived alone since my friend Roobar had passed out only a few hours earlier though if he was with me I’ll more than likely be spending more money than anything. He has that kind of effect on people, lol.

So wondering around I went snapping away and chatting with all the usual friends and dishing out Moé Moé Rabu business cards as well as looking around at some of the smaller things that I missed from Saturday. I had a closer look at some of the artist sections and some of the other stores that I missed due to many people crowding around them. I found something so awesome but I held back due to the $300 price tag on it.

JAUWS members (Sithboy, khardic paladin, and DGhost-Kage). You can also catch these guys at Animania Sydney in August. So do visit them.

Slykura as awesome as always.

I couldn’t resist playing Wangan Midnight 3. Definitely a fun game but what will be better is when I’m going to be actually driving on the wangans in Japan in August, so look forward to that.

This was the highlight of my day. Good friend Futrhythm was getting annoyed how no one was winning anything from the UFO catcher just behind us. Luckily I had a $2 and told him that I’ll have a go so he can laugh at me. Well you can guess what pretty much happened.

Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls (ABJD) is one of the things that I don’t have, yet. I noticed this table on Saturday but didn’t get the chance to have a good look. A dollfie is the one thing to take my otakuism to the next level and rest assured I will get one one day. Picked up a flyer that had a bunch of links with more info so I’ll definitely be looking at those later this week.

Anyway onwards to cosplay pictures!

And to end this post with a picture of ALFRED MAN, doing what he does best. The rest of the photos will be in the next post that covers mainly from the cosplay competition. If you want any of the photos seen here, just send me an email (which you can get on the About page), but also check out Bubby’s collection of photos for Supanova Sydney 2008 Sunday.

This year’s Supanova Sydney felt to be the same as every other year, though I have been to many many conventions so it all does nothing for me except when I get to see people I haven’t seen in months. Though it was pretty enjoyable still as I also had good friend Roobar with me, and seeing him falling apart due to no sleep on Saturday was entertaining. Spending all my hard earned gold and taking photos in one day is what it’s all about when it comes to conventions but it’s also about having a great time.

Oh and I’m so glad that people did at least take some of my business cards that I left on the JAUWS table. So to those who did so thank you and I hope you will continue to come and visit Moé Moé Rabu. It’s also good to see that when handing out cards to some of the cosplayers some people actually knew about Moé Moé Rabu. Well out of 100 that I produced for the second season, I have about 26 cards left, so it wasn’t a bad effort to hand out so many in two days.

Anyway this will probably be my last Australia convention for 2008, unless I decide to head down to Melbourne for Manifest. SMASH and Animania Sydney are both held during August, but I will be in Japan for the entire month. Its rather a shame actually as I was looking forward to how different Animania will be with the change of location. Oh well, there’s always next year.

Miyuki: You were great. So nice to see some Lucky Star cosplayers so you and Konata made my day.

blissmo: Hey as long as it keeps me awake that little bit longer, I’d drink it. Besides, it’s better than Mother.

Thanks again for letting me choose my fav. card. LOL
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend on the Sunday and beside I was half broke anyway. Still, compared to 2006 (didn’t attend 2007) it was huge and more fun I thought even though I was alone. I swear the Star Wars cosplays are getting bigger and better.

Optc: It probably looked bigger to you since everything was in The Dome rather than the convention halls behind The Dome. It moved to The Dome only last year. Glad you got your favourite card.

Bubby: Funny that as I wasn’t expecting to win anything from it.

Tenchou: Anime Tenchou was an awesome cosplay and ALFRED MAN told me to take a photo of you.

You know, I’ve always wanted to get one of those dolls. But the price is what keeps me from ever getting one. ^_^’
