This was one of the episode I was lookig forward to as it was the introduction episode for Ren/Run, but damn I never thought it would go so long winded. I’m relatively sure that the chapter introducing Ren wasn’t all that long but recently I’ve noticed how this series tends to drag a few things out just to reach the 24 minute mark, which isn’t all that bad, but can get rather lame at times. However with this being a Ren episode and the whole focus on him being manly was just awesome and funny as well.

Impressions

Though I think the small appearance of Run at the start kind of ruined the surprise for those who didn’t know about Ren’s secret. It would have been better if it was kept under wraps as it would’ve given the whole being manly more meaning, but also it’d become more funnier that way. Though now with Ren/Run as a part of the crew, we’ll probably see some moments similar to that of Ranma, minus the martial arts and all, but I’m hoping there’ll be more Run than Ren screen time. The best thing about Ren/Run, it’s like a trap and reverse trap in one. So there’s a love rival for Rito, but as well as another who will show interest in Rito as well, oh the dilemma.

Well it seems like we’re finally getting the character intros rolling as next week, Kotegawa comes in next week, another personal favourite of mine. Though I wonder how much of the ecchiness will be retained since that is one of the things that Kotegawa is against. But because there is so much of it, its what made the manga humorous. Recently it feels that the series has been dragging on a bit but I’m hoping things will get better once all the characters have been introduced.
