Itazura na Kiss - 06

Japanese students must have it pretty tough to be going through exams and Valentine’s Day as well. Though it doesn’t surprise me that Naoki pretty much brushed everything off as if the days weren’t that special. Thankfully Kotoko is there to keep his life all that much interesting, as well as supplying us with plenty of laughs. But it was also Kotoko’s influence that made him not take the exam for Tokyo University, yet it seems just like Kotoko to get appendicitis just as Naoki was going for his exam. I really thought it was the chocolate she made.

The Fellowship is down to 4 members

In my last post about my Japan trip, I mentioned that it will be 5 of us, including myself. Well due to some unforeseen circumstances, a comrade has fallen from the Fellowship and now won’t be joining us. Most unfortunate, but certain issues were raised, which won’t be mentioned here, but he still wants to come to Japan. So perhaps he may still join us, but not for a the full month. I hope so because the more people at Comiket, the better, lol.

So what does this mean for me? It just means that I have to fork out extra money to cover the extra cost for accommodation but thankfully it’s not too much and won’t break the bank. But I suppose the benefit of there only being 4 of us now, my plans to hire a car may come to fruition. Still plan on hiring an RX-8 but it’s only a 4 seater, so with only 4 of us, it makes it perfect.

In other news, as many of you are aware, Animelo Summer Live 2008 is also on at the end of my trip. Having made an enquiry with my travel agent, he has agreed to help us in acquiring tickets. Most unfortunate that I can only attend the Saturday concert, but at least I can still goto Chara Hobby on the Sunday. For those who are going to be in Japan during the concert and want to attend but have no way of acquiring tickets themselves, ask your travel agent as they may be able to help. Writers of seiyuu3 have also opted to help out those who can’t acquire tickets as well.

With only a meer 10 weeks till EPIC trip, I’ve cut down on spending and preorders over the past few months with April being the last of a HUGE splurge. Now my HLJ preorder list is only a small 5 items.

Seriously, my preorder list has not reached 5 items in 3 years. It has always been a moderate 7-12 items so you can see how much I’m holding back on the spending. But with Supanova Sydney coming up next month, as well as payment for the JR pass and travel insurance still to come, I pray that I can still reach my goal of taking $7000 AUD to last me the month in Japan.

Da Capo II SS - 05

Well this episode had certainly taken me by surprise as we see both Otome and Yume joining Yoshiyuki and friends on their ski trip. This never happened in the game, but with the focus of this series on the two sisters, it’s actually a nice welcome. Although it’s a shame that they didn’t have the scene of Yoshiyuki and Wataru trying to peekat the girls taking a bath and then getting caught by Nanaka, as that was one of the funniest parts of the ski trip in the game.

To Love-Ru - 05

Finally we’re introduced to another character in this series. Saki is the typical ojou-sama figure in the series but I must vertainly say, she seems more reserved than I thought she would be. Personally I thought she would be a bit more wicked when she got angry, but with Kawasumi Ayako as the voice, I can’t really imagine her voicing some wicked. Being sly I can see it, but wicked, not at all. But she certainly has played the role well but it’s a shame Saki doesn’t appear all that often in the series.

Now I know this is only an anime, but seeing how stupid everyone in a class can be is kind of ridiculous. I have some friends who were pretty stupid during high school but not to the point of where they couldn’t understand anything of a math problem. And my impression of a Japanese schooling system should be of a pretty high standard in terms of quality to ensure most people can see some kind of logic in the problem. That aside, the stupidity of the class did bring about some laughs. Especially stuff like Jinko’s little outburst and the whole class begging Kotoko to ask Naoki to tutor them.

Da Capo II SS - 04

This episode would have to be one of my favourites so far as it covers the puppet show as this is one of the best events earlier on in the game. Though when I played the game, I had a pretty good understanding of the storyline but watching it anime form is still pretty good on it’s own. Having Otome take on Sheryl’s role was just so awesome especially seeing her all nervous. But Yoshiyuki did well in reminding her that they are one together and it calmed her down. Though Otome cried during the play, it makes me wonder if Yume knows more than she’s letting on.

To Love-Ru - 04

Throughout the first half of this episode, I thought we’d get something pretty standard where girls learns to cook for her loved one. But if anything, this episode taught me not to expect anything from this series as it dropped an absolute bombshell, and not in a good way. Seriously just as I thought Lala was going to make something for Rito, 3D octopus aliens! Of course given that this series focus is fanservice, I could see what was coming and I just sat here going through whilst diverting my attention to other things until the ending credits.
