Moé Moé Rabu

You know I never knew you could combine pro-wrestling and a romance comedy together, until now. Special A is another romance comedy series for this season but I’d have to say, I didn’t find it all that enjoyable for the first episode. Sure there were some funny parts but this just seemed so bland and I prefer Itazura na Kiss over Special A. Well this is a co-produced series by Gonzo and AIC, but I don’t think Gonzo has the know how on making a romance comedy (have they ever made anything similar?).

Impressions

Animation style is different to what I see in a lot of series and it’ll probably grow on me. But the series is slated for 24 episodes so we may see some drop in quality later down the track. Though I do get a slight Ouran High vibe on the way they introduced the members of Special A class, but I don’t think we’ll see much of that again. The basic plot of the story is nothing special, but the only twist is the pro-wrestling that’s thrown in there, which could prove to be hilarious if done correctly.

Character wise none seem all that interesting. At the start I didn’t realise Goto Yuko was voicing Hikari until I heard that high pitch in her voice. Fukuyama Jun was easy to pick up after a few lines, but when he went into serious mode, I just couldn’t help but think of Lelouch from Code Geass. The other members of the Special A class don’t stand out that much either, but since this is the first episode I didn’t expect much anyway. Still this series didn’t do much in entertainment for me but I’ll give this a few more episodes to see where it’s going and to see if it gets any better. Though I probably won’t blog this.

So it’s a joint effort of all the main male seiyuus for the series. Let’s just say that they should probably not sing anymore and just stick to voice acting. This has to be the worse ending theme for this season.
