Da Capo II SS - 01

Opening Sequence:

OP: “Sakura Amaneku Sekai” by yozuca*

Now I’ve listened to a number of yozuca* songs since being a fan of the Da Capo series, yet this one sounds fairly different. It doesn’t seem to have that Da Capo feel to it all, but I’m sure after a few episodes I’ll probably end up loving it like the rest of yozuca*’s songs. And just as expected from the OP sequence, looks like the series focus is definitely on Otome and Yume.

Impressions

And so we are back once again for another season of Da Capo II after a rather staggering first season full of robot drama. Yet within a few minutes of this first episode, I completely forgot about the first season and by the end of the episode my burning passion for Da Capo has been re-ignited. Yoshiyuki’s dream sequence is exactly how I remember it from the game and with majority of the episode leaning towards Otome’s story, I went into moe meltdown. Though it seems that they aren’t going to waste too much time with development, which was done thanks to the first season, and we’re already getting signs of things to happen in regards to the sakura tree.

Even though it’s too early to tell, I’m really hoping for an Otome ending more than a Yume ending. Yume is cute and all, but I never originally liked her character, even in the game. However Yume’s story is a little bit better than Otome’s story, but I’m also willing to think that we’ll even get a bit of Sakura’s story at the near end of the series. It’s also good to see all the characters again, and good to see that they haven’t completely shrugged off Koko from the scene and she’ll be playing a lesser role this time around.

The series is off to a good start and I’m sure I’ll be drooling over Otome for the next few weeks, so do forgive me if you start seeing a bunch of Otome screen caps. I’m actually excited on how this will turn out and I hope that this time around it will satisfy the many Da Capo fans out there.

Ending Sequence:

ED: “Bokutachi no Yukue” by CooRie

Just like the opening theme, the ending theme is lacking that Da Capo feeling that we know so well. It’s kind of disappointing even with the ED sequence where we only get photos instead of something more artistic like the first season’s ED sequence.

I enjoyed ep 1 too and have high hopes in spite of the deplorable season 1. I would mind either Yume or Otome winning the race as long as a great tale is woven. :)

Yeah here we go! More Da Capo :D Glad to read from your impressions this would be (finally!) focused on Otome and Yume. First season was… well, disappointing.
    Cant wait to watch this first episode… with some sub, for the poor non-japanese speaking guy I am ^^;

Now I just have to hope someone subtitles this…a little worried that all the fansubbers will have been put off by the first season and no one will pick DC II SS up T_T

I think I like this OP theme a bit more than the one from the previous season.

Stripey: It better end off in the usual Da Capo style. Siscon FTW!

lu-k: And what makes you think I know a lot of Japanese? lol.

suguru: I’m relatively sure that ASF will be subbing this series.

Taiyaki: I prefer the first season OP than the current one. But like I said, give it a few episodes and it’ll grow on me.

Where are the subs? (still waiting)
    Well, I don’t mind much because I haven’t finished the 1st season (I watched until ep 9)
Don’t have the time to watch it now but I will pick it up again soon..
