Kanokon - 01

Opening Sequence:

OP: “PHOSPHOR” by Miyazaki Ui

Opening theme I find to be alright, but nothing that is catchy or anything, but the OP sequence does showcase to us a lot of characters that’ll appear throughout the series though I’m not sure if that’s a promising thing.

Impressions

This is probably another series that I’ve been eager to watch in which because everyone else was eager to see what it’s about. With Wolf and Spice showing to be a good series with a wolf girl, it made me wonder how well this series would turn out with a fox girl, but of course I wasn’t expecting anything as good as Wolf and Spice. After this first episode I’m kind of on the fence whether I like this or whether it’s all “meh” to me. This is another XEBEC production for this season but I would have to say that To Love-Ru wins by far in enjoyability, but Kanokon definitely wins ont he fanservice side.

We do see at least some kind of plot in Kanokon, what with fox spirits living together with humans/going to school together although I can see that only taking the series so far that we’ll probably won’t even care about such a thing anymore. But at least there is the little bits of humour and the ton of fanservice to keep you glued to the screen, assuming if that’s your kind of thing. Though I would have to say that the kiss between Kouta and Chiharu and that drop of saliva would had many hormones running. Funny about Chiharu falling in love with Kouta at first site as it reminds me of Ayako and Mamoru in MegaDere, except MegaDere is more tasteful.

At the start I didn’t realise that Mamiko Noto was voicing Kouta but atfer a while I could pick up her voice. Strange how she is voicing a male character as I don’t recall any other roles where she has done the same. Still, Mimiko Noto and Kawasumi Ayako (as Chiharu) is probably a good reason I would continue watching this, but other than that, I don’t think this series could do anything else for me. Unless something interesting happens, I really doubt I’ll blog about this.

Ending Sequence:

ED: “Koi no Honoo” by Sakakibara Yui

Wow, this must be the first series where I actually like the ending theme. Sakakibara Yui is the vocals for this and she sung the opening theme to H20 last season, and I liked the opening theme to that quite a lot. So it’s good to hear a new song from her. The ED sequence is nothing spectacular.

Regarding comparisons with ToLOVEru and Kanokon, I’d say the former wins in BOOBS, but the latter has much more racy, sexual parts. The show itself isn’t worth blogging anyway, but it’s a relaxing watch… in a sense.

Not only will I not blog about this, I won’t watch this =S. To Love-Ru is much more fun to watch.
