Spring 2008 Season Preview

April 1, 2008 | Author: | In: Anime Blogs, Season Previews

Little did I realise that the Spring season of anime series was starting this week and I hadn’t even had a look at what was coming up. So checking out the usual list on Moonphase, I was shocked to see the long list of shows that are premiering for the Spring season. A total of 49 anime series according to hashihime, so check out the more extensive coverage there. Anyway since I’m late on the whole preview, I figured it would be easier to list the small list of shows that have perked my interest greatly, instead of the usual list all the shows.

Macross Frontier

Air Date: 3rd April

For a long time I have been a fan of the Macross franchise. So this is definitely a series that I can’t miss and after seeing the first episode that aired late last year, it looks so awesome.

To LOVE-Ru

Air Date: 3rd April

Wasting one of my precious weekends on reading the manga, I ended up loving the whole thing. Though more of an romantic-ecchi-comedy type of series I’d say I’ll be enjoying this moreso than Rosario + Vampire. This is a definite series for me to blog.

Itazura na Kiss

Air Date: 4th April

What is it about the drawing style of shoujou manga that draws my attention. Anyway basic story is girl likes guy, girl’s house collapses, girl moves in with guy she likes because their fathers are good friends. Hopefullyit’ll turn out good.

Kanokon

Air Date: 5th April

Just as To LOVE-Ru is going to have a lot of fanservice, Kanokon is also another winner with the fanservice. But which one will win out for the fanserviciest show for Spring 2008? On the watch list for sure but probably not something to blog about.

Da Capo II Second Season

Air Date: 5th April

After a disappointing first season, Da Capo II is now back for a second season with this season focusing on Otome and Yume. I’m just hoping that it turns out for the better and that we get some siscon action going on.

CODE GEASS R2

Air Date: 6th April

Ths would definitely have to be the most anticipated show for Spring 2008. Watched the first season and loved it. So I can’t wait for epic action and referring this show as Pizza Hut. I may occasionally blog about it but I shall see.

SOUL EATER

Air Date: 7th April

Upon watching the promo clip for this my first thoughts were something along the lines of Bleachmixed with a lot of zany things. Either way it’s something I’ll watch since it’s a show that a friend of mine is anticipating, but not something I’ll blog.

Blogging: Low

So a very short list as I didn’t have a lot of time to go through the entire preview list. But I will make an attempt to watch the first episode of most of the new series to air for Spring. With my current blogging list pretty much ending I’ve only got two on the list, but I might make it three. Either way there is a lot of interesting shows and it’ll be a busy two weeks.

I never read to love-ru manga, is it that good? I don’t really like rosario vampire tho.. (bad story, but decent character and animation, but I heard rosario vampire manga is quite good)

somehow I’m abit dissapointed for this spring season anime :( maybe because the only role kugimiya has is a boy T_T (which you haven’t mentioned in this post yet)

ron~: Never read the Rosario + Vampire manga and I’m sure it’s much better than the anime. But I do love the To LOVE-Ru manga so I’m looking forward to the anime, despite knowing it’ll have fanservice and doesn’t have a very consistent storyline. Spring season is usually the prime season for shows, same with Autumn, and there are a lot of other shows that I look forward to that I haven’t listed here.
