When I first read this chapter of the ARIA manga, it was another wonderful story of both Alice and Athena’s bonds and with this episode, it just made it absolutely brilliant. Alice has always been the type to hide her feelings from others and tries to act mature (would that be classified as a tsundere?), but Athena’s plan of having amnesia was just a brilliant way to make Alice reveal her true feelings. Although a real roundabout way of doing so, but a somewhat painful way of doing so, it does flesh out the importance of bonds between people, and I see that as one thing Alice learnt from all of this.

Impressions
ARIA in the past has definitely pulled many heart strings and it certainly has again this episode when I start feeling sympathetic towards Alice and how she feels about being forgotten, and she’s the one who’s trying the hardest to be herself. I’m just amazed at how well the seiyuu’s and director have taken ARIA to an all new level of slice of life where it can make me cry. The development of characters is there, the emotions are there, and the bonds between the characters is what makes it spectacular.
Certainly there was much Alice love this episode as we saw many sides to her today, and with the high level of animation it makes it more special. I reckon Impz would’ve had a big grin on his face throughout this episode, but I would’ve as well as Alice was so cute when planning out the picnic. The many faces of Alice such as her happy, sad, angry, and shocked has certainly made this a very enjoyable episode. Though one of the best points as well was the look on Alicia and Akari’s face when they found out about the amnesia. It’s not often you see Alicia’s surprised face.
Next episode continues on with Alice and Athena, but it certainly looks to be that one special chapter, that one chapter that I should really read. I don’t want to spoil too much so I’ll leave it at that. However, if it happens to be that one chapter I’m thinking of, then could this be the final season of ARIA? I hope not.

It may well be the final season, if it’s already moving onto the graduation. They’re moving pretty fast here… and given the manga’s wrapping up this month in Japan, this is probably going to be ‘the’ last season of Aria we’ll see, outside of maybe an OVA to cover chapters that got missed.
Fisherman Horizon: It’s definitely looming over that it will be that chapter. Though I must admit that the series has certainly picked up the pace to get to this point already. By the way, have you checked your email?
Haesslich: Well it certainly looks to be the final season. Let’s just pray that there will be another OVA once it’s finished and that it will leave a special place in our hearts.
