With the past few episodes being slowish in pace and high in drama, it was time for the usual dose of comedic relief in the form of Mei-chan. The last time she appeared there wasn’t very much in terms of development, even though she is a side character. But this time around, we see the truth face of Mei-chan. Such a sly and scheming junior high school girl, yet she is just what every imouto loving otaku is asking for. Although all the little schemes that Mei-chan planned out for Nagisa you see in every other school based anime, I didn’t find it all that boring at all, but in fact was laughing quite a lot. Though I think this is because Nagisa is the one playing it out and way out of her character.

Each and every episode of ARIA it’s always difficult to find the words to describe it, but with this episode it’s more so, so I’ll try my best. Every single part that happens throughout this episode weaves the overall feeling that this was indeed beautiful. Beautiful in the ways that we see Akari being very supportive and cheerful about Aika’s promotion to Prima, everyone’s support of Akari during her Prima exam, and even the way that Alicia took off Akari’s glove. However the most beautiful thing to me was Akari’s answer to her path for her future, and that is none other than ARIA Company. We’ve always knew that Akari loves Aqua and that she loves her life in Neo-Venezia, but by answering her future is ARIA Company demonstrates she truly loves ARIA Company and understands what the company is.

Yeah real life is events are starting to take my toll on my anime watching so I’m like a good week or so behind the usual stuff that I watch. Hopefully I can get through most of the stuff before the new season starts. Well this episode played out how I thought it would with Nagisa’s mind thinking about her parents giving up their dreams, and when it came to stage time, she broke down in tears. But the one thing that truly made this episode awesome was Akio’s outburst to Nagisa as we got so much emotion not only from Akio, but from Sanae and Tomoya as well. It once again brought up the theme of family and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

It’s been 2 years since I last went to a Mini-Animania Sydney event, and back then I wasn’t too impressed. But this time around I figured it was time to head back and see if anything has changed in those two years, plus I have money to attend compared to last year, lol. So armed with the shiny camera, not so much cash, and deprived of sleep because of work, I headed down to the city to see how things would turn out. So hit the jump to check out photos and my overall impressions. WARNING: Picture intensive post.

Well it came to no surprise that Hirose had a mental breakdown and reverted to his younger self before his mother killed herself, but I found it more strange on how he perceived Hayami as his mother. I can’t really see the logic in that since he blames Hayami for his mother’s death, but then there really are no explanations for when people breakdown. What I expected before watching this episode was by some miracle Takuma would forgive Hayami and all is right with the world. But the way they make Takuma breakdown and with him and Hayami moving back to Tokyo was the better option. I would say this is the kind of story development I was looking for.

With a series like Bamboo Blade, it’s kind of hard to see some drama fit into it, but with this episode, we certainly got some level of drama that made this really enjoyable. With the club’s defeat still lingering amongst everyone, it seems that the club is falling apart with Tamaki resigning, Toraji placing the issue of Toyama and Iwase on her shoulders, and Miyako’s depression of losing to Carrie. But the one thing I loved about this episode is how it portrays that everyone as individuals they are weak, but as a whole, they are strong.

Back in ARIA The NATURAL, we were always treated when an episode contains two stories, and now we finally get it in ARIA The ORIGINATION. The first half we have a Akira and Aika focused episode with Akira concerned about Aika’s feelings of Alice being promoted to Prima. In a master and apprentice relationship, usually the apprentice carries similar attributes to the master, but it’s also the task of the apprentice to exceed the master, and that is exactly what happened here. Akira thought that Aika would be just like her old self being depressed at others becoming a Prima before her, but Aika has shown that Alice’s double promotion has motivated her to try harder.
