Now most Hayate episodes tend to be pretty good, but when it comes to character focus, it becomes even better. It certainly has been a while since we had something Maria focused so I was looking forward to this episode when I saw the preview. This episode is about Maria taking the day off to relax as it’s Nagi’s and Hayate’s way of saying thank you, but this is Hayate no Gotoku, nothing goes as according as planned. The hotel they chose for Maria’s day off was in fact already over-run with Hakuou Academy students, which of course bring about many laughs.
Still, Maria being Maria, she just can’t seem to get away from any form of work around her. Though I do admire her ability, or would it be tenacity of always doing work even when she is supposed to be relaxing. Although if you were ever faced with Yukiji offering to give you a massage, I think the choice is obvious, but this shot I absolutely love for some reason. This episode also brought out more of the awesomeness of Maria and her organisational skills and it’s rather strange to think that she is still only the sweet 17 year old. Also not to be picky, but what Maria was wearing was a bit bland if I must say. Seeing her out of her maid uniform is great, just like in the episode 35, so I was hoping for something similar, but oh well, we got plenty of other fanservice shots.
I just loved how Maria feels that being with Hayate and Nagi at home is the best thing she could get. Gives that nice sense of family and friendship, plus there is no place like home. But of course we circle back to the ordeal of Maria’s age, lol. Next episode we get to see Isumi in a high school uniform, and with Wataru ever so vigilant when it comes to Isumi, I wonder what will happen.
