H20 ~Footprints in the Sand~ - 06

After knowing that the title for this episode was focused on Yui, I wasn’ttoo excited about it, since I find her to be the annoying character of the series. But after watching this, it has turnd out to be one of the best episodes for this series so far. I even dare say that the animation seems to have improved, but it’s still not great. Anyway this episode we get some character development on Yui, but the major factor this episode was finding out the reason why the town hates Hayami and her family.

Impressions

I had my speculations that Hayami’s family were influential to the town and I was correct. But I didn’t expect that her family would be the “bad” guys, but I’m using that term loosely here. Though I wished that they worked on that part of the story more rather than have a 2 minute explanation of what happened as I was hoping for something more dramatic. But we end up getting our drama with Yui screaming for Hayami to give her Grandfather back. But Hayami wins points saying that she can only accept Yui’s hatred, and that shows how strong Hayami is.

In the end Yui still hasn’t forgiven Hayami, but the two are on slightly better terms. Though depending on how the series progresses, I still don’t think Hayami’s family will be forgiven anytime soon, but we’ll see. Otoha makes another appearance this episode only to bring a friendly reminder that Takuma’s gift will soon expire and he’ll revert back to being blind. I’m still surprised no one realises that he was originally blind, but that may just be an effect of Otoha’s powers. So far the story has already answered a few things such as the town’s hate for the Kohinata family, and Hayami and Hinata being friends again, but we still have the mystery of Otoha herself and Takuma being the “Promised One”.

A shopping episode is always nice as we get to see Hayami in twintail form and wearing the same dress that she wears in the game. Not to mention her punch is quite scary, but I guess you learn a thing or two if you were getting beat up all the time and living out in the sticks. Anyway, next episode is title Hotaru, so we’ll be shifting the focus to Hinata’s little sister.

I have to agree, this episode was definitely one of the better ones. I enjoyed how Hayami has started opening up to everybody. What I want to know now is why Hayami’s parents were taking advantage of the rest of the village. Was it really because they were bad people or is there something we have yet to see?
