In my many years as a purchaser of fine anime goods, I rarely have come across any issues that I get told about from various friends or from the things that I have read online such as incorrect items being sent, damaged parcel boxes, or even worse, damaged goods. Really my main sources for the loot usually come from HLJ, Amazon Japan, and Tamarket, but I do occasionally like to purchase goods from various other stores. Just recently I decided to take that plunge once again and order something from another store, but this time around, this store is based in the USA. Honestly, I have not had anything imported from the USA well over 2 years ago since everything I wanted could be purchased directly from Japan, but this case was different.
Having posted about the ARIA Premium Poster Book 3 on HongFire’s Bragging Thread, I was lucky to have been directed to Animebooks.com by another member and apparently they had the ARIA Premium Poster Book 1 listed on their site. So I was quick smart to place an order and waited a week. Heard nothing so sent an email enquirying about it, was told it was out of stock. Ok, no biggie. Normally I thought when told such a thing, my order would be canceled, however that was not that case and about 2 weeks later, I get a notice about the order being shipped. This I found to be rather strange, but I was more excited about it arriving at my doorstep. Anyway after a few days, it arrived, and I was in for a certain surprise:

Instead of being sent Poster Book 1, I got sent Poster Book 2. orz. Anyway I fired off an email to Animebooks and hopefully they will fix this issue. Although depending on Animebooks policies, I can only hope this can be settled without it turning out ugly. So for the time being, I now own a 2nd copy of the ARIA Premium Poster Book 2. Of course I can only imagine how envious the ARIA fans out there are right now, lol.

You must be lucky. I tried to check the first four options, but there’s a maximum of three. orz
I’m not too keen on Animebooks.com and try to order elsewhere if I can.

Canadian customs is the worst. They’ll hold things for weeks and then ship it on off… with a 30$ customs charge.
I hope this gets sorted out for you!

Sorry to hear that happened to you.
The mishaps I have generally will be that a website will have an item listed as instock and will not have it (as was the case for you). I never had an alternative item sent though. Hopefully things work out for you.
Also, I heard things about animebooks.com so I never actually placed an order with them. However, I can vouch for otaku.com and animecornerstore.com as reputable sites.
selkirk: I limited it to 3 choices.
super rats: Well this was a gamble, and I got burnt. Depending on how Animebooks handle my situation it may affect my future business with them.
Fisherman Horizon: LOL, I’ll see what happens. But I’ll keep note that you want to buy this. Though I’m sure a bunch of other ARIA fans would love to as well.
Ashleigh: So I’ve heard, it’s like they hold everything for ransom until they’re done with it.
Punynari: Personally I haven’t heard much about Animebooks, so I took a gamble. But the other thing is that I usually don’t like purchasing goods from the USA.
Ouch~
I never had anything like this happened, the worst is getting a damaged box (as you may of seen on my Dollfie Dream…)

If they don’t resolve it, put me on the ‘to buy’ list.
Well, toss me on the ‘will buy’ list if that doesn’t go through. My worst mishap’s just having Customs charge me for the privilege of having a package opened… when all it contained was Megami.
Goddamnit I can’t get my hands on ARIA’s premium poster book 1 either.
