OP: “Tatta Hitotsu no Omoi” by KOKIA
Having listened to the OP the first time, I didn’t like it as much as I thought the OP to the first season had more impact. But listening to it a second time it’s actually growing on me. It’s gradual progression with the OP sequence goes well with what is portrayed in the OP sequence.

Impressions
By the end of this episode I only had one thing in my mind: damn this turned out pretty bad. The animation itself was sub par on many occasions through out the episode and is no where near the level of the first series, and with an entirely new cast of seiyuu, it certainly does feel odd. Of course the seiyuu thing really applies if you remember what the actual characters sound like. Personally I don’t remember much, but I do know that Henrietta sounded much more quieter and more shy. Here she sounds more cutesy which doesn’t really fit her character at all.
Initially in the season preview, I was pretty excited seeing that a sequel was being made for Gunslinger Girl. This is one of the earlier series that I watched when starting anime and I thought it was one of the best back in those days. But with what I’ve seen so far from this new series, it’s looking pretty disappointing so far. However having quick glimpse through whilst screen capping, I have slightly appreciated it more given that this is the first episode. Since this is mainly reintroducing all the characters through a mission, I’m hoping that the series will get better from here on in.
Now I haven’t read the manga myself, but from the look of things, the series will be focused around Triela this time. Triela happens to be my favourite one out of the girls so it’ll be interesting to see how the series will play out with the story surrounding her. But I do hope we get to see the other girls and any other new ones that may come along. So in the end, I wasn’t terribly impressed with the way the series looks to be, but I am excited in what kind of direction it will be heading into. The animation will need some getting used to as well as the voices, but I’ll definitely keep watching.

ED: “doll” by Lia & Tada Aoi
Despite the animation being sub par, I was certainly surprised to hear a Lia ending for Gunslinger Girl. Very befitting I must say but the ED sequence isn’t anything too special.
I guess everyone was a bit… shocked. T___T

I think I’m going to give this one a miss…
I thought very strange when I watched for the first time. I mean I thought that Joseph is Hilsher at first. Later when I saw the new look of Henrieta I instinctively grab my Henrietta action figure and point at the screen saying “Look how are you look like”(or something like it was a Bulgarian expression that is hard to translate). Well It’s true that Henrieta is not in place :D. But look at Rico I mean she is really well made as for first episode I also liked Claes look and voice. Triela I don’t fill much change in her that is good actually I wonder about angelica but it’s seems we have to wait some episodes ;). We only saw a brief look at Beatrice but I won’t talk more about it :D. nor giving manga anime comparison atm. Just hope it will be series that I will enjoy watching true that I don’t see the potential of surpassing the first seasson but that doesn’t mean that we have to look at the second as something bad because it’s not like the first (it reminds me of Heroes of Might and Magic III and IV they were totally different games and everybody said that IV sux because it’s not like III)
since the start of the Black blood fashion in animes I was afraid not to get over with black blooded gunslinger girl :D.

Having seen the screencaps, I’d agree, the animation is a big disappointment. But we’ll see how the series play out as I enjoyed watching the first season =/.

Wow. I haven’t watch it yet but it doesn’t sound like it turned out too good. I’ll still watch it cause I’m a big fan of the manga and want to see how the anime turns out.
Off topic: The Funimation Shuffle! website has updated with an English Trailer and 2 fully dubbed episodes! I absolutely loved this dub and found their translations even better and easier to follow than the fansubs. The voices in my opinion match the characters personalities perfectly. Wish Kanon could have turned out this well. Even Nerine sounds sexy and can sing pretty darn well. This is on my must buy list for this year.
