H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~ - 01

Opening Sequence:

OP: “Katayoki no Icarus” by Sakakibara Yui

The opening theme by far is better than the ending theme but I’m sure they’ll both grow on me eventually. The sequence itself is pretty standard with just screens of the various girls in the series.

Impressions

So the first series to kick off the Winter season is H2O, but really, I can’t tell if I enjoyed this first episode much at all. The premise of the story of a blind harem lead, Hirose Takuma, does bring about a different feel to the usual school life drama series and it has the opportunity to become something rather interesting, however the characters on the other hand just don’t seem to do it for me. The moment we’re introduced to most of the girls, its the usual fanfare of ever so helpful student council president, the self confident twintail character, and just your minor sub characters. Although we do have a tsunderekko, but even still it still isn’t very interesting.

By far I think the only character so far that perks my interest is Otoha as she has that aura of a supernatural being. So it’s rather strange how Takuma can see her only when he is alone, but her mention of him being the Promised One and her role in it all is what I find most peculiar. Another would be Hinata since her addressing Takuma with the “sama” seems that there is an ulterior motive behind Takuma’s transfer to this school. There are plenty of questions already introduced to this series such as Takuma’s reason for being blind, and why Hayami is treated like dirt, but perhaps when we progress through the story, we may get something quite surprising.

With the series being produced by ZEXECS (Da Capo, Canvas 2, MegaDere), I’m willing to give them a chance to see how this plays out since this is only the first episode. From what I’ve heard of the soundtrack, it’s definitely one of the defining features about this show so far. I wouldn’t say that H2O rocked my soul, but I would say that it’s rocked my interest. Whether it can continue rocking my interest is another matter. Not sure if I want to blog this show just yet, but I’ll give it a few more episodes before I decide to or not.

Ending Sequence:

ED: “Kazahane” by Shimotsuki Haruka

i find the manga to be better than the anime so far… but then… it does have a few beautiful shots of the place they live in… something like aria…. but probably not that grand

from what i remember… the tsunderekko should be 暴力女 what u call it.. girl with powerful strength…. from the manga… meh who cares… i think it will be pretty good anyway

There’s a manga for this? Personally I’d find the game to be much more interesting as this is what it’s based on. Of course I’ve never played the game and I probably never will.
