A day out into the city can bring about many wonderful things as it’s almost like an adventure, well assuming you don’t head into the city often. And for these girls, it was an adventure, and to kick it off, the episode went off ARIA style with the opening theme playing whilst we watch the girls do various things, not to mention it was a new upbeat song to reflect the fun they had together.

Impressions
With a new adventure, it also brings about new themes, and that theme is family. By encountering different people and reflecting on her own, Sora’s perception on the brother and sister relationship is one thing that many people can relate to, unless you’re an only child. The different behaviors that we see in both Negishi, but also in comparison with Ao and Asuka’s brother, we all act differently amongst the circle of people around us. The different bonds that we have also reflect the identity that we show to others and it brings variety to life. And these identities change over time as well, as we can see from Sora’s perspective of Ao, where he was young, energetic, but in the present, he is more mature and more reliable.
Well this episode brought about many laughs, especially with Hazuki and her love for Tokunosuke related items. Although Sketchbook may turn me into a cat lover, I don’t think anyone could beat Hazuki at it, lol. But another thing I noticed about Hazuki is that she’s always conscience about the money she spends, whether it was at the festival, when she went shopping alone, and right now with the UFO catcher at ¥200 a game.Personally I don’t find ¥200 to be all that expensive given it’s an average price to pay for one game. But the thing that topped it for Hazuki was her drawing of the UFO catcher. Now that’s some dedication for a cat plushy.
Negishi was also a laugh this episode with his usually aggressive self, especially when he grabbed Natsumi’s head and started shaking. Kate was funny as well with the presents she suggested, but at this point in the series, it’s good to see her as a part of the group. Everything now makes it seem that she has been there for a long time, and her consistency of wanting to use kanji to spell out everything will never get old. Sora’s “gao” was kind of unexpected, but it’s very Sora like thing to do, and for her to reflect back to what Ao was like when he was younger by drawing the monster drawing, I thought that was rather touching.
Well unfortunately next episode will the last episode for Sketchbook. Seems everyone is together to watch the sakura trees but it also appears that a new character is joining. A bit late for a new character, but he may fit in just perfectly for the ending.
