Not sure if this is old news, but I recently saw this dub clip of Kanon 2006. From the sound of it, the dub just doesn’t cut it. In fact it tarnishes my love for Nayuki as she doesn’t sounds very cute, or sleepy. Ayu on the other hand sounds more like a brat, and oh god the uguu, all I can say is…uguu~~~ Still, with the first volume to be released on the 1st Jan 2008, I find it unexpectingly quick. Still, I’ll probably end up purchasing the DVDs at some point, but with the whole Xmas shopping, it won’t be for a few weeks maybe. Anyway, check out the dub below:

After a brilliant last episode, we’re now back on track with the story, however this episode focuses once again more on the Chihiro x Renji side of things, but with good reason. In the past episodes, we could only understand the pain of Chihiro’s memory loss through her words and the abstract representations such as her chained inside the circle. But at the very end of this episode, we see the reality, and the truth of Chihiro’s pain. The way that she woke up and started to panic was pretty emotional and it’s not something we’ve been used to seeing. My perception of Chihiro has always been a sensible and mature girl, but that seems to all be a front to hide the truth.

It’s very rare for me to shed a tear in an anime series, let alone let the waterworks go. The last time I shed a tear was WAY back in Kanon at the end of Makoto’s arc, and it happened once again here in Fuko’s arc of Clannad. The initial build up from the start of this episode gave the thought of things nearly being lost, but in the end, Fuko’s feelings reached out to everyone and they all celebrated Kouko’s wedding. However the one thing that touched my heart the most was when Nagisa and Tomoya finally remembered about Fuko. Everything at the start was nice and cozy, with the three acting like a family, only to find the next day that it seems nothing had happened. But their lingering feelings for Fuko were what remained, and it was those feelings that helped them to remember.

As I thought, more and more people are starting to forget about Fuko, and I can guess that her disappearance will be coming soon. But with more people forgetting about Fuko, I do wonder if they have forgotten about Kouko’s wedding since the starfish sculpture was a representation of an invitation. However there does appear to be the lingering feeling in people who were close to Fuko, and I found that to be very touching, especially for Youhei and Sanae.

This was a rather interesting episode for me as I can relate to this from my final days of high school. The HSC (Higher School Certificate) exam period was a time of concentration, but also a lot of frustration. However it did bring about many interesting things when it came to actually studying, especially the whole asking people for study techniques. But just as this episode has shown, everyone have their own techniques to studying for an exam, but the best way is definitely what the club president had said, and that is to listen and class and review what you learnt at the end of the day.

As the series started, I always thought Ryou and Fuu were a little odd, but their small antics now and then brought humour to the show, but after this episode, they were just awesome. Normally I wouldn’t take notice of such characters in a series, but with Sketchbook being a rather slow-paced series, Ryou and Fuu make it pretty fast paced. Their ignorance of the obvious surely may seem weird in the eyes of Hazuki and Natsumi, but it simply means that thye are adding humour to their everyday lives. Plus it was funny seeing Hazuki and Natsumi’s reactions to Ryou and Fuu’s antics.

Not much happening in this episode, but at least we get a small development to show that there is at least some underlying plot to keep the story going. The new goal now is the hopefully the Kendo Nationals and win in order for Toraji to keep his job as a teacher. Now that with things like this, it’ll speed up the introduction of Satori. Though she did get another appearance this episode, and rather early into the episode as well. Though I found it funny how Tamaki yelled out “Welcome” when Satori just happened to be the next customer.
