Right now to me, it appears that Hayate no Gotoku has taken a slight upturn in actually being an enjoyable series. Before it seemed the series had taken a slump and became rather boring, but this is one of the best that I’ve seen for a while. So much happens throughout this episode as we see the plot to defeat Hayate continues, but we’re also shown the school festival, which is something rather fresh for the series. But really, I think the one thing that made this episode so awesome was the Puppeteer Butler.

Impressions
Upon hearing his voice, I knew it sounded very familiar. It’s none other than Fukuyama Jun, who is the voice of Lelouch from Code Geass, but it doesn’t stop there. Although his costume and all was all of Lelouch, but his face was in fact Watanuki from xxxHOLiC, which Jun also did the voice for. When I realised that I could stop laughing as it was Watanuki but with a serious voice. Well with the Puppeteer and his “controlling technique”, it brought about an interesting twist and he managed to catch Nagi under control. Though with all the things that happened through the episode questions whether she is under control or not, lol.
Definitely a lot of references in this episode but I’m not going to bother listing them. With it being a school festival, I’m surprised they didn’t go all out with references. Anywya, with Nagi supposedly still under hypnosis, next episode is the continuation of the school festival, but it appears to turn out to be a doujin showdown, and the school is temporarily turned into the Tokyo Big Sight. Can’t wait to watch the next episode.
