Having a close circle of otaku friends has it’s benefits, and it’s disadvantages. Benefits such as being able to trade anime, discuss about anime, or even notify each other of the various merchandise items that are going to be released. My dearest Roobar is a prime example of such a good otaku friend as he is always 10 steps ahead of me in everything anime and figure related. I usually welcome the news that he brings me, however, last night was something that really got my BURNING PASSION going. So what is it that he showed me that made me go O…M…F….G?? Was it a artbook? No. Was it a very moé figure? Not even close. What he showed me was this:

IT’S A JUMBO GRADE ZETA GUNDAM!!!! But the best part doesn’t stop right there. For those who have actually watched the old Gundam series, especially Zeta will know what Zeta can do. If not then see the picture below.

IT TRANSFORMS!!! I beat some of you are thinking big deal. In fact it is a BIG DEAL, and I mean BIG. I’m not sure how many people know the various Grade types of the Gundam merchandise, but I can say that Jumbo Grade is HUGE. In the words of Roobar “it’s the size of a baby”, that’s how big this thing is. In the Densha Otoko drama, Tsuyoshi had a Jumbo Grade Zaku in his room, and that’s how big they are. Can’t remember? Well the picture below is one I took at the Bandai museum back when I was in Japan.

So what’s the bad thing about this? Well everything has a price. And this Jumbo Zeta is of a grand amount. ¥26,800 ($269 AUD). However that is only for the Jumbo itself. Add on shipping, and this thing is no lightweight either, and it has to be shipped via EMS due to both it’s value and weight. So add on a few thousand yen and it’ll roughly come to ¥35,000 ($351 AUD). So yes, this is something that will burn a hole in my wallet as big as the Jumbo Zeta itself, and right now I’m under contemplation of whether I want to place an order for it. I loved Zeta Gundam so much, so seeing this makes me want it even more. However the fact that I will start saving for Japan once my holiday is over, I don’t want to do ANY major purchases. I’ll have to see how everything goes, but if I don’t end up placing an order, I will more than likely buy it in Japan when I make a trip to the Bandai museum again.
Though some of you know that I have a problem with space in my room at the moment. Well if I do buy one, I’ll figure that out when the time comes, lol.

How big is it… holy… i had a MG zeta thats all… PG grade is 1/60… dont know how big is JG though =/
i think i would only leave the money for another gundam… not a big fan of zeta tho
Haha, tempting buy indeed… Good luck with your inner dilemmia =).
Pudding: As far as I know, there is no scaling on the Jumbo Grade. They are just known as jumbo. I guess I’ll have to take a comparison photo of a Jumbo Grade to show people the size difference. I was thinking of getting the RX-78 Jumbo Grade, but when I saw this, Zeta wins over the RX-78 to me any day.
Hijiko: A BIG dilemma. Decisions decisions…
Jumbo Grade is 1/35
I never knew a Jumbo Grade existed.
thought perfect was as big as it can get =/
