ef - a tale of memories - 03

After last episode’s little surprise about Chihiro, I was hoping they would work on it more for this episode, but they didn’t do much at all. However this episode does bring to light a different perspective on things when it comes to Chihiro’s memory condition and that we get a small understanding from her point of her. I don’t think there could be anything more painful than people forgetting about you rather than yourself forgetting, and Renji now sees the importance of his friendship with Chihiro now. However at this point I don’t think we can see anything developing form this for a little while.

Impressions

So finally, we get to see the beginning of the Hiro x Miyako x Kei triangle and I’m thinking we’ll see the drama that we saw in the promo DVD hopefully sometime soon. By far I find their side of ef more interesting than Chihiro and Renji in terms of story and character development, but I like the Chihiro and Renji side based on the artistic development of their story. Though I still wonder how the two side are connected to each other and if Chihiro and Renji’s story will play a role later on.

Although Hiro, Miyajo, and Kei are the main part of one half, there is still the part of Kyosuke. We find out that he is searching for his path and that he does have a dream, though it doesn’t make it very clear how this coincides with Hiro’s story. But given that he had an eye for Kei, I think we might see him and Kei getting closer later on once they actually meet face to face. Still with the third episode, there is a lot of developing stories, but it kind of makes it hard to follow especially since the Chihiro and Renji side takes half the episode, and consists mainly of talking. But now that Kei has found out about Hiro meeting Miyako during Christmas, things are starting to look interesting.
