Another series that I’m picking up this season is Bamboo Blade, simply because this is funny yet simple show. This episode focuses mainly on Tamaki and how she got into kendo. I find it rather cute how she was influenced by sentai shows and she believes she’s an ally of justice, because serious, who hasn’t thought that Power Rangers was cool back in the good old days? But I also like how they flashed back to Tamaki’s father teaching her what kendo is about as it shows two sides of a coin on how Tamaki perceives kendo.

Impressions

In the end she ended up beating Toyoma without breaking a sweat and formally. Toyoma of course broke quite a few rules and still lost, I don’t think this will be the end of his appearance. He may come back a different person, but since the show is focused on the girls, it’ll be a while till we see him. Even after this episode, Kirino is still at the top of my list of favourite girl. Normally I don’t like the hyper energetic type of character, but Kirino is funny with her reactions, but she can be pretty cute and serious, or even a little lazy. With this episode focused on Tamaki, she has certainly developed quite a bit, now that she has joined the kendo club, even to the point of wanting to make sandwichs for her newfound friends.

All up this is turning out to be a really enjoyable series to watch, and we haven’t even been introduced to all the characters yet. Next episode is focused on Miyako (or Miya-Miya), and judging from the ED theme, there is quite a twist to her character.
