Finally I have reached the end of my preview list (well for now) and it’s none other than Genshiken 2. It’s always nice to be able to delve into the world of otakuism but through the world of others, and that’s what Genshiken is all about, but with a slice of reality thrown in, and that’s what makes it such a good series. The first episode covers the group having won a chance to enter Comifes (well Comiket to be exact) and we can see the excitement brewing. Having actually attended Comiket before, I know exactly how the guys feel and the opportunities to go and hit the vendors/circles before anyone else.

Impressions
It’s also great to see all the characters once again, even though the OVA wasn’t really that long ago. But at least we also get to see Ogiue be more interactive with the rest of the group, plus I found it amusing how she started drawing once she heard about Genshiken making a doujinshi. Though I am somewhat surprised that she didn’t mind drawing ero instead of yaoi, and is that drawing a guy or girl? The group’s reaction to when Haraguchi turned up was pretty funny as well, but he was pretty annoying with the idea of Genshiken selling a different type of doujinshi. But I have to admire Sasahara for not backing down as it shows he has taken on the responsibility of the club president.
A good start to the second season of Genshiken, but if you haven’t watched the first season, most of this will get pretty confusing. It’s a pretty laid back series and an easy watch, but really, who isn’t dying to see more of Ohno cosplaying? With this being the last on the list of first episodes, I’m pretty much broken into the new season. So far half decided what I want to blog but it’s a matter of me catching up. Not sure if I’ll blog Genshiken, but it’s an easy watch so I just might add it to the list.

ED: “ClubHouse Sandwich” by Yuumao
Different style of ending compared to the first seasona nd OVA, which is a good thing as it keeps the series fresh. I like how it starts with a rough sketch and colouring begins as it feels as if a doujinshi is being made. The ED theme is also nice but can’t wait to see the OP.

I’m a Oguie fan so I’m exceited that Oguie will have a bigger part in Genshiken than in the OVA’s. I think Oguie drew a girl, based on the guys reaction to the drawing. I thought the manga president looked pretty weird with his mouth being a constantly curved upper lip.
This somehow slipped under my radar… must go watch it now
