No OP them for the first episode, but an instrumental piece was played instead. I like how they also used greyscale drawings/animation for the OP sequence of this episode but I look forward to seeing what the proper OP looks like.

Impressions
Having saw the prologue way back in August, I was really excited about seeing this series, but after this first episode, I have somewhat mixed thoughts. I’m somewhat surprised that SHAFT has decided to show two different stories in the one episode, but it does give way for character introduction. Though I see that we had more development on Renji x Chihiro than Hiro x Miyako, but later on, I think we can see their stories intertwining with each other, but I also get the impression that they are worlds apart and their connection is Chihiro and her sister Kei.
Still, for only a series of 12 episodes, we can already see a bunch of relationships/stories being shown to us and it makes me wonder how they are going to fit all of this in. But if their stories intertwine with each othe, I think we can see something working out in the end, and that’ll also mean we’ll be getting quite a drama like shown in the prologue. Also with this being based on a game produced by minori, I can expect some awesome drama happening here.
SHAFT have done a great job on this series in which they also add a bit of creativity into the series. By using the same elements like seen in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I like how parts of the episode went to monochrome, or how they take a bit more of an artistic approach to how the characters interact with each other. The use of the sun and dark colours is done well, even though not at the level of KyoAni, SHAFT do well in expressing the characters mood and the type of scenario that is playing.
Although not a terribly impressive first episode, I’m still convinced that we’ll be seeing something happen soon. With this being a Nanao Naru based character design, I’m already sold on watching this as well as blogging it. Can’t wait for the next episode.

ED: “I’m here” by Taguchi Hiroko
The ED theme was nothing too special and the same goes for the ED sequence. I was hoping to see art works by Nanao Naru or at least some CGs from the game itself.
