Continuing on, here is Part 2 of the Supanova Sydney 2007 Saturday cosplay photos. At the end is also the photos of the cosplay competition winners. Hit the jump to check out the photos. WARNING: Picture intensive post.

The following photos are of the cosplay competition winners. Normally I don’t hang around to find out who won, but since I was there to the end of the day, I might as well go. Oh and I don’t actually remember who won what category, well technically I wasn’t even listening, lol. First picture is of the judges.

And that’s it for the Saturday cosplayers. As mentioned before, the photos originally turned out darker than I expected. But with any digital photography, there is always that step of post-processing, so again, only some mild ones done here. Personally I had a lot of trouble deciding whether to use the flash or not. At times the flash produced good photos, other times it didn’t. Although the problem I faced without the flash is that it takes about 1 second for my lens to focus. Reason being is that the standard lens is crap and doesn’t have USM. Next year I’ll have something decent to work with. Since I was also sitting at the front, I had to sit in the seiza position for a good 20 minutes before I gave in. Seriously, how can people sit like that for prolonged periods.
Also just to note, the Prince of Tennis cosplayers had a video running in the background of some of the photo shoots that they had. This is the kind of photography I would like to try as I want to improve my portrait photography skills in which I want the subject to pose how I want them to pose. I have been talking to good friend neuralplex and he is one of the organisers for the AnimeSydney Christmas party, and he has a few ideas about cosplay, so I might take the chance to do some more cosplay pictures.
Anyway today (it’s Sunday at the time of writing), I have two places to head to: the Sydney International Motor Show in the morning, and back to Supanova for the afternoon. So look forward to those photos.

The kanti cosplay was interesting, would be even more so if he went full robot ;p. Pretty cool how all the cosplayers went on stage to have a huge photo shoot, good way to get everyone at once.
Some of these cosplay were nicely done, some were not… some were eye burning =__=
Btw you consider yourself short? I always thought you were pretty decent in height. Looking forward to the pics from the motor show =D.
haha, the guy with monitor on his head is hillarious
thank you very much for the pictures ^^, next post is loot post right?
Nice… but alot of your photos seem too bright…
Kind of annoying shifting back and forth between small and big groups just to get the right zoom…
I couldn’t feel my legs after the whole cosplay comp… =/
I like your photos - the people really stand out against the background. They’re great shots.
AS: Yeah would’ve been better if he did the whole suit. Well the whole group cosplay is nice, but on such a small stage, it’s literally impossible to get a decent wide angle shot.
Hijiko: Indeed I am short, just that people have never seen proper photos of me to know how short I am, lol.
ron~: Loot post had to happen at the end as there was a Day 2 which meant more loot!
Bubby: Using a flash gives you a sharper photo, but that depends on how much flash compensation you use. And yeah, sitting in seiza for 10 minutes was not fun.
wenz: Thanks.
